Dozens of bridges have been restored in GBAO: this is only part of a large project for the socio-economic development of the region and its withdrawal from the communication impasse
DUSHANBE Sputnik reports . The construction of 17 bridges has been completed in Gorny Badakhshan, the GBAO administration reports.
Restoration of bridges with a project cost of more than $ 20 million was carried out in Darvaz, Vanj, Rushan and Murghab districts.
According to the head of the Ministry of Transport of Tajikistan, Azim Ibrohim, important work has been carried out by this time to bring the region out of the communication impasse.
He noted that one of the important objects that made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the region was the opening of the Dushanbe- Kulma highway through the cities and districts of Kulyab, Kalaikhumb, Rushan, Khorog and Murghab.
The Minister clarified that the reconstruction of the Shkev-Kalaikhumb road has been successfully completed, the construction of the road section from Darvaz district to the border with Rushan has begun and work is continuing on the design of the road from Rushan to the village of Varshez in Shugnan district.

In the same area, in 2023, the construction of a road bridge in the mahalla of Agricultural machinery and anti-avalanche corridors in the town of Barsem will begin.
It should be noted that, according to the plan, the construction and reconstruction of the following sections of highways should be implemented by 2026:
  • Guliston – Farkhor;
  • Jaloliddin Balkhi – Kubodien – Shahritus;
  • Dangara – Guliston – Kulyab;
  • Rushan – Khorog – Kulma;
  • Khujand – Kanibadam;
  • Khujand – Asht.
    During this time, over 1,000 km of roads, 53 bridges, 7 tunnels and 5 anti-avalanche corridors will be built, most of which have an international level.
