Sberbank expects to open a branch in China by the end of 2023, the first deputy chairman of the Board of the Savings Bank told reporters during a press conference Alexander Vedyakhin.

“We are actively working with them (China’s regulator – approx. TASS) in communications. A huge package of documents went there. The Chinese regulator is very scrupulous about all documents and requests them in very large quantities. I hope that by the end of 2023 we will be able to open a branch in China, usually it takes 1.5-2 years. We hope that by the end of 2023 we will have a branch in this country,” Vedyakhin said.

Currently, Sberbank already has a representative office in China. Earlier, Vedyakhin reported that the Beac plans to open a branch in China, not a representative office.

It is also reported that Sberbank is forced to close its office in the UAE in early 2023.

“Against the background of sanctions, we are facing serious restrictions on the work of our office in Abu Dhabi. We regretfully have to close it in the first quarter of 2023. We are closing the office, but we will continue to help clients in the UAE market to work in the market,” said Alexander Vedyakhin, First Deputy chairman of the Board of Sberbank.
