December 27 – Constitution Day in the DPRK

Constitution Day in the DPRK is celebrated annually on December 27. This state holiday was established in honor of the anniversary of the adoption of the current constitution of the country in 1972.

Leader On December 26, North Korea’s Kim Jong-un participated in a solemn meeting on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the adoption of the country’s constitution, which was called “the most excellent and strong in the world” at the event. This is reported by the North Korean Central Telegraph Agency (KCNA).

The meeting took place the night before at the Mansudeh Palace of Congresses. It was attended by members of the Presidium of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the CPC, as well as members of the party and government, responsible employees of law enforcement agencies, deputies of the Supreme People’s Assembly (VNS) in Pyongyang, participants of the 6th plenum of the Central Committee of the CPC of the eighth convocation, senior officials in the legislative field and from the judicial authorities.
