The young champion from Astana won the game from the grandmaster, the ex-Minister of Finance of Latvia

A young chess player from Astana, Karim Aitzhan, won a game against a Latvian chess player, formerly the Minister of Economy, the Minister of Finance of Latvia.
On Tuesday, as part of the World Blitz and Rapid Championship, which takes place in Almaty from December 25 to 30, Dana Reizniece-Ozola, a Latvian chess player, women’s grandmaster and politician, former Minister of Economy and Minister of Finance of Latvia, now Managing Director of FIDE, held a simultaneous game session with 24 students of chess academies of Almaty and Astana and a master class for female players participating in the current World Championship in Almaty.
“Chess has taught me a lot in my life – to achieve my goals, work hard and appreciate time. If you want to win not only in chess, this game will help you in this! You just have to work hard, and you will succeed!” said Dana Reizniece-Ozola to the young participants of the session.
At the board of 8-year-old Karim Aitzhan from the Chessstar chess school in the capital, the grandmaster stayed longer than usual and pondered her moves for a long time, the Kazakhstan Chess Federation reports.
As a result, the silver medalist of Kazakhstan up to 8 years old and the silver medalist of Asia in blitz Karim Aitzhan won the game from the grandmaster.

The organizers of the tournament are FIDE and the Kazakhstan Chess Federation. The championship is held with the support of the Akimat of Almaty and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan.
