Putin held a telephone conversation with the President of Cuba

Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, discussing topical issues of bilateral cooperation, the Kremlin’s press service reports.

“An exchange of views was held on topical issues of bilateral cooperation… A mutual commitment to further comprehensive strengthening of the Russian-Cuban strategic partnership was expressed,” the message reads.

It is noted that it was agreed to intensify contacts at various levels. In addition, the Presidents confirmed their readiness to implement the agreements of November 19-22, taking due account of the wishes of the Cuban side.
“The readiness to consistently implement the agreements reached following the visit of the President of Cuba to Russia on November 19-22 this year has been confirmed, with due consideration for the proposals and wishes of the Cuban side,” the Kremlin said in a statement.

As specified, special attention is paid to mutually beneficial joint projects in energy, industry and other areas.
President Putin also congratulated the head of Cuba, Diaz-Canel Bermudez, on the national holiday of Cuba, Liberation Day, celebrated on January 1.

“Vladimir Putin congratulated Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez on the national holiday of Cuba, Liberation Day, celebrated on January 1, conveying wishes of well–being and prosperity to the entire Cuban people,” the message reads.

It is noted that the leaders of Russia and Cuba exchanged warm congratulations on the upcoming New Year.
