A conference on African-American culture will be held in Cuba

Under the slogan “Connected to our roots – we grow together”, an International conference on African and Afro-American Culture will be held in Santiago de Cuba for the 21st time, the purpose of which is to create a space for discussions about the influence of the Black continent.

Camilo Sigas, a communications specialist at the Fernando Ortiz African Cultural Center, told the Cuban News Agency that the meeting will take place on April 12-16 next year and will be open to specialists, scientists and those interested in these issues.

He said that the event will analyze the African presence and influence in the Caribbean on Cuban culture, race, identity, history, ethnology and religion.

Sigas highlighted the 3rd symposium dedicated to the relations between medical and social sciences based on the international practice of Cuba.

The event is sponsored by the Romulo Latatanere Department of Afro-Caribbean Studies, the Provincial Department of Culture and the University of Oriente.
