Since the end of 2020, fossilized dinosaur remains have been discovered in nine districts of Yunnan Province in southwestern China, the Press Office of the provincial government reported on Wednesday.

The staff of the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will soon begin emergency excavations of these fossils.

The remains of ancient reptiles found in the city of Lufeng and the counties of Wuding and Shuanbai of the Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Okrug, respectively, are buried shallow, and they are quite easy to recognize by the shape of the bones, said deputy head of the Provincial Department of Natural Resources Chen Jun, adding that some fossils partially appeared on the surface of the earth due to rain and other natural factors.

It should be recalled that over the period since 1938, the remains of more than 410 dinosaur individuals have been found on the territory of the Chusyun-Yi Autonomous Okrug.
