On January 1, 2023, the decision of the CIS Council of Heads of State on renaming the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS to “Secretary General of the CIS” comes into force.
Recall that at the summit held on October 14, 2022 in Astana, the heads of the Commonwealth states supported the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on renaming the position of Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS to “Secretary General of the CIS” from 2023
At the same summit, the CIS heads of state decided to extend their powers Sergey Lebedev as the head of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth for the next three-year period.
