In 2022, the Russian Federation tripled the supply of fertilizers to India, and to the Middle East by 40%.

Russia has increased the supply of mineral fertilizers to India almost three times this year, to the Middle East, mainly to Turkey, by 40%, the head of the Russian Association of Fertilizer Producers (RAPU) told reporters Andrey Guryev.

“India is the leader here. According to preliminary data, the export of Russian fertilizers to this country has increased almost 3 times, to 3.6 million tons, mainly due to an increase in the supply of phosphorus fertilizers,” Guryev said, speaking about alternative supply routes.

According to him, the export of fertilizers to the Middle East, primarily to Turkey, increased by 40%, to 700 thousand tons. In addition, the share of Russian fertilizers in the market of African countries has significantly increased.

“The markets of Southeast Asia are characterized by a high potential for supplies, especially in 2022 Vietnam abolished the countervailing duty on DAP/MAP supplies from Russia. Vietnam annually imports about 3.5 million tons of various fertilizers,” Guryev added.

Earlier, India stated that it intends to increase the volume of fertilizer imports from Russia, since the cost of their production at its own enterprises has risen significantly due to high gas prices, and intends to do this “for as long as possible.”

In October, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the volume of fertilizer supplies to India from Russia increased by 7.6 times after the request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
