In his congratulation, Nikol Pashinyan, in particular, said:

“Dear people, on this Christmas Eve I want to wish you a Merry Christmas with verses from Psalm 118

O Lord, I will flow in the way of Your commandments when You expand my heart.

Show me, O Lord, the way of Your statutes, and I will keep it to the end.

Give me reason, and I will keep Your law and keep it with all my heart.

Set me on the path of Your commandments, for I have desired it.

Incline my heart to Your revelations, and not to self-interest.

Turn away my eyes so as not to see vanity; quicken me in Your way.

Confirm Your word to Your servant, for the sake of reverence before You.

Turn away my reproach, which I fear, for Your judgments are good.

Behold, I have desired Thy commands; quicken me with thy righteousness.

May Your mercies come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your word, –

Christ was born and appeared, Good news for us and for you!”

All traditional religions, and of course Christianity, are based on such fundamental values as mercy, compassion, and love for one’s neighbor. High humanistic ideals are deeply rooted in our society, serve as moral guidelines for people of different faiths and worldviews.

Orthodoxy is an integral part of our existence within the state, serves to strengthen national unity, preserve the rich diversity of cultures and traditions.

The President’s message, in particular, says:

“This bright, beloved holiday inspires people to good deeds and aspirations, serves to affirm in society such enduring spiritual values and moral guidelines as mercy, compassion, kindness and justice.

I am deeply pleased to note the enormous creative contribution that the Russian Orthodox Church and other Christian denominations of Russia make to the unity of society, the preservation of our historical memory, the education of young people, and the strengthening of the institution of the family. Church organizations pay primary attention to maintaining interethnic and interreligious peace and harmony in our country, take care of those who need help, and support our soldiers participating in a special military operation. Such a large, multifaceted, truly ascetic work deserves the most sincere respect.

I wish Orthodox Christians, everyone who celebrates the feast of the Nativity of Christ, health, success and all the best.”
