Russia ranks first in the number of joint ventures established in Uzbekistan — 2,311 organizations as of September 2022. The parties continue to develop partnerships, mainly in the field of industry, electric power, as well as the extraction, processing and sale of natural gas.

One of Russia’s largest projects in Uzbekistan is the construction of the first Uzbek nuclear power plant. In September 2018, the heads of government of the two countries signed an agreement on the creation and development of nuclear infrastructure, as well as the exploration and development of uranium deposits, the production of isotopes and their use in industry, medicine, agriculture and scientific research. It is expected that the construction of the nuclear power plant will cost $ 10 billion, part of which Russia will provide as an export loan. The launch of the NPP will allow Uzbekistan to save 3.7 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually.
