The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided Morocco with the first tranche of 100 million euros as part of a loan totaling 200 million euros allocated for the construction of the port of Nador West Med (NWM), the Russian Trade Mission in Morocco reports in Telegram.

The commissioning of which will attract additional foreign direct investment to the eastern provinces of the Kingdom, which will contribute to the development and economic integration of local enterprises.
According to the official website of the Nador West Med company, in accordance with its strategic guidelines and within the framework of the development policy of its regions, Morocco has decided to gradually develop an integrated industrial and port platform on the Mediterranean coast of the region called “Nador West Med”.

The NWM project will be built on a strategic section of the Bay of Betoya, located on the western side of Cap de Trois Fourches, less than 250 miles from the Strait of Gibraltar and opposite the main routes for the delivery of containers and tankers from east to west. A new deep-water port will be built, equipped with significant capacity for transshipment of containers and bulk products, in particular coal.
To implement this major project and facilitate relations with future investors and partners of the Nador West Med project, the Government of Morocco has established the State company Nador West Med, which is responsible for the construction, development, planning, promotion and management of this industrial and port complex in accordance with the terms of agreements signed with the Government of Morocco.
