The more southerly exit point of the 4 line shows that China is counting on Russian gas in the north and east of the country.
Turkmenistan and China are discussing the construction of the 4th line (D) of the Turkmenistan-China main gas pipeline (MGP).
This was announced by President of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov following the results of negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Xi Jinping – S. Berdimuhamedov:
cooperation in the field of natural gas is the cornerstone of Chinese-Turkmen relations;
The expansion of cooperation in this area serves the strategic and long-term interests of the two countries.
According to PipeChina:
As of June 1, 2022, more than 400 billion m3 of natural gas (almost in 12 years), about 40 billion m3/year were supplied under the Central Asia-China MGP.;
this reduced the use of coal by 532 million tons over the period, which is equivalent to a reduction of 8.8 million tons of harmful substances and 568 million tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

Earlier it was reported that the 4th line (D) is planned to be laid along the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China route and will become part of the Central Asia-China gas transportation system

The length of the thread is about 1000 km,
The throughput capacity is 30 billion m3/year of gas, i.e. the supply of Turkmen gas to China will increase to 65 billion m3/year.
