The world’s first robot lawyer will appear in court next month. A lawyer with artificial intelligence (AI) will help a person defend their rights in a case with a fine for violating traffic rules.

AI from the startup DoNotPay will work through a smartphone and listen to court arguments in real time. After that, the robot will tell the defendant what he needs to say in his defense.

According to the founder and CEO of DoNotPay, Joshua Browder, in case of loss, the firm agreed to cover the defendant’s fines.

It appears that this technology will allow many people to hire “lawyers” for free.

Browder launched DoNotPay in 2015 as a chatbot that provided legal advice to consumers dealing with late payments or fines, but in 2020 the company moved to a new level and began using AI.

It took a long time to train DoNotPay’s AI in case law covering a wide range of topics and make sure that the robot’s answers were true. In addition, it was important to teach the AI not to react automatically to everything the robot hears in court. Instead, he listens to the arguments and analyzes them before instructing the defendant.

Browder explained that his ultimate goal is for the app to completely replace some lawyers in order to save defendants money. “Many lawyers charge a lot of money just for copy-paste in documents. The goal of our company is to make legal services worth $ 200 billion free for consumers,” he said.

The founder of DoNotPay is a scientist from Stanford University, Joshua Browder, who created the company in 2015.
