Question: Uzbekistan is undergoing constitutional reform, as well as structural changes in the government. The history of a new legal social Uzbekistan is being created before our eyes. How do you assess the global changes in the constitutional reform in Uzbekistan? A new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, B.O. Saidov, has been appointed. Has there been an exchange of views and contacts between the Ministers of Russia and Uzbekistan?

Answer: The Russian Federation, as a strategic partner and ally of the Republic of Uzbekistan, supports the efforts of its leadership both within the country and in the context of the processes of regional rapprochement launched several years ago.

As far as we can judge, the structural changes you mentioned in the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan are an element of improving the system of executive power in accordance with the program guidelines of the head of state.

As for the communication between the heads of foreign ministries, on December 31, 2022, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent a congratulatory message to B.O. Saidov in connection with his appointment as Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

I think their meeting is just around the corner. We have a number of major interstate events ahead of us, and the “reconciliation of hours” between the Foreign Ministries of Russia and Uzbekistan will be very timely.
