Kazakhstan has distributed to the UN statements of the CIS heads of state on cooperation in the field of culture and climate

The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations has distributed among the UN members the statements of the heads of the CIS member states on cooperation in the field of culture and in the climate sphere.

The documents were signed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which was held on October 14, 2022 in Astana under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The Statement on the development of cooperation in the field of culture states that such interaction is the basis for preserving and strengthening friendship and good–neighborly relations between the CIS member states. The document notes that cooperation in the field of culture in the Commonwealth is actively developing on a bilateral and multilateral basis and includes many mutually beneficial forms and directions, and also emphasizes the importance of preserving and popularizing the unique historical and cultural heritage of the Commonwealth countries.

The statement on cooperation in the climate sphere confirms the intention of the CIS member States to make a constructive contribution to the implementation of the global climate agenda.

The document recognizes that climate change is one of the most important global problems, the solution of which requires concerted action by all members of the international community. The commitment of the Commonwealth countries to existing international obligations, the need for a balanced and economically sound approach to climate policy is confirmed.

The document also declares intentions to develop cooperation in the climate sphere, taking into account the interests of all Commonwealth countries in order to enhance the role of the CIS in addressing topical issues of the global climate agenda. It emphasizes the need to deepen cooperation between the CIS member states in order to stimulate energy conservation and increase energy efficiency, modernize national fuel and energy complexes, introduce advanced technologies, use digital platforms, develop cooperation in the use of low–carbon, including renewable and alternative energy sources, and implement green economy projects.
