The law “On Countering extremist activity” was adopted in Kyrgyzstan

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic on January 12, deputies approved the draft Law “On countering extremist activity”.

The document introduces new concepts: extremist activity, extremist organization, prevention (prevention) of extremist activity, countering extremist activity and warning.

The main subjects and competencies of state bodies in countering extremist activity are determined. The authorized state body implementing a unified state policy in the field of countering extremist activity has identified the internal affairs bodies of the Kyrgyz Republic.

In addition, the law defines the procedure for recognizing extremist information materials, legal entities and organizations, their attributes and symbols. All the provisions of the draft have been brought into line with the new versions of the codes of the criminal law block, as well as in accordance with the Convention of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on Countering Extremism, the press service of the parliament reports.

The deputies also adopted amendments to the “Code of the Kyrgyz Republic on Offenses”, establishing responsibility for disrespectful attitude to teaching staff, expressed in the form of insults, obscene language, obscene behavior, offensive harassment and demonstration of indecent gestures (signs), objects.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 11, deputies rejected amendments to the law “On the licensing system in the Kyrgyz Republic”, providing for licensing the activities of passenger taxis, which is planned to be introduced pursuant to the Decree of the President of the country “On urgent measures to ensure road safety in the Kyrgyz Republic”.

During the discussion, it was noted that the ban on commercial passenger transportation by vehicles with right-hand steering, which make up 50-60% of the taxi fleet in the country, may cause dissatisfaction with carriers.
