Baku Autumn contest revived in Azerbaijan

35 years after the event, the legendary contest will return to the stage and the screens of viewers, director Sevinj Kerimova said on social networks. “Baku Autumn” 2023 will be held in five categories: modern vocals, original genre, modern choreography, composing, pop and rock groups.

Sevinj Kerimova became the author of the idea and director of “Baku Autumn” in 1988.  The winner was the People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Aygun Kazimova, who performed the song “Yarım eşitsin məni” (per. “Let half of me hear”). In addition to her, the competition opened for the audience many talented performers performing on the Azerbaijani stage to this day. Among them are Zulfiya Khanbabayeva, Abbas Ahmed, Almaz Aleskerova, Faik Agayev and others.

In addition, a contest under the same name was held in the country in 2001, but the creator of “Baku Autumn” had nothing to do with it. Then Tunzala Aghayeva, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan, won the victory.
