Rusatom Automated Control Systems has shipped a number of automated process control systems and electrical equipment for Kudankulam NPP

JSC Rusatom Automated Control Systems (JSC RASU, part of the Rosatom State Corporation) has shipped a large batch of equipment for automated process control systems (APCs) of the block level and electrical equipment for the third and fourth power units of the Kudankulam NPP under construction in India*.

Dmitry Kukushkin, Head of the project office of the Automated Control System of the Kudankulam NPP of RASU JSC, said that earlier the equipment had passed acceptance, functional and integration tests at the production sites of Russian manufacturers in the presence of inspectors of the Indian Atomic Energy Corporation (NPCIL). All the equipment was fully packed in accordance with the requirements and ready for sea transportation to the construction site.

“Ensuring the supply of equipment for new nuclear power plants is still one of the most important activities of JSC RASU. As part of the batch of equipment, Ural Switchgears (USG) low–voltage complete devices manufactured by the Ural Electromechanical Plant (UEMZ) were sent to India, which we supply to NPP construction sites abroad,” said Alexander Afanasyev, Managing Director of the Electrical Engineering product line of RASU JSC.

* Kudankulam NPP is a nuclear power plant with VVER—1000 power units located in the south of India, in the state of Tamil Nadu. The first power unit of the Kudankulam NPP has been operating steadily at the design capacity level of 1000 MW since February 2016, the second power unit was included in the national grid of India on August 29, 2016. The General Framework Agreement with Rosatom on the construction of the third and fourth blocks was signed in the spring of 2014. In June 2017, the Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation and the Indian Atomic Energy Corporation signed an agreement on the construction of the third stage (power units No. 5 and No. 6) of the Kudankulam NPP.
