Dragon dance on the eve of the Lantern Festival

Due to the approach of the Lantern Festival (Yuanxiaojie), celebrated on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar, which this year falls on February 5, in Yaokou village of Huyuan Parish of Fuyang District of Hangzhou (prov. Zhejiang, East China) the women’s team performed the dragon dance.

The peculiarity of this performance is that the body length of their dragon was 100 meters, and more than 50 benches helped him move in waves.

Being a regional intangible cultural heritage, the dragon dance performed by the women of this village, which will take place from benches, has more than 200 years of history and symbolizes the good wishes of the people of prosperous weather and a rich grain harvest.
