Vertical City was one of the projects considered at the 2019 Dubai Knowledge Summit, Arabian Business wrote on January 27. Sketches by Luca Curci Architects is a collection of multi-storey buildings located above the water and capable of accommodating up to 100 thousand inhabitants. In addition, the “Vertical City” will become an environmentally friendly space, which, according to the architectural bureau, will change people’s opinion about skyscrapers.

“The vertical city is characterized by a large number of renewable energy sources, solar, wind, hydropower, desalination of sea waters. Food production and cultivation are integrated into a zero waste management strategy. …Our goal is to make vertical cities accessible to everyone,” says the Luca Curci Architects project page.

The unique design look of the buildings also has a practical function: perforation will allow air and light to pass to all floors, which will allow plants to be planted along the entire height of Vertical City. Thus, the new urban area will not just have green areas for recreation, but will also be able to provide its residents with agricultural crops.

The “Vertical City” project can be implemented by 2030, according to Arabian Business.
