The project of the National Museum, the Ministry of Culture and the Government of India allows everyone to get acquainted with the heritage of Buddhism in different countries. The halls of the virtual exhibition were collections of the main monuments of religious culture located on the territory of the states that are members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. On the website of the Indian Museum, you can look at exhibits from Russia, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, China, India, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The Buddhist heritage of the SCO members became the agenda during the first international conference on the same topic. Its purpose, according to the Embassy of India in Moscow, was to highlight the country’s cultural and civilizational ties with other members of the organization.

“The main goal is to restore intercultural ties and search for common features between Buddhist art of Central Asia, archaeological sites and antiquities in the collections of various museums of the SCO countries,” the press service of the ministry wrote on Wednesday in its Telegram channel.

Experts attended the event from museums, academies and missionary universities from around the world.

The material was collected and processed by Sofia Chernopyatova.
