Chairman of the EEC Board Mikhail Myasnikovich spoke about the role of business in promoting Eurasian integration processes at the congress of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs in Moscow. The President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin took part in the work of the RSPP Congress.

According to Mikhail Myasnikovich, in the conditions of restrictions, sanctions and quarantine measures of the pandemic, the Eurasian Economic Union has proved its viability. “Thanks to the efforts of governments, business and statutory bodies of the Eurasian Economic Union, the volume of mutual trade in goods in the EAEU has increased by more than 35% over the past 3 years and reached a record value of $ 83 billion,” the head of the EEC Board stressed. “At the same time, the indicators of mutual trade in cooperative goods, which is the greatest evidence of the scale and depth of cooperation, have increased by one and a half times over the same period.”

The Chairman of the EEC Board noted that thanks to the advantages of the common market of the Union, it is possible to quickly ensure the formation of logistics supply chains of raw materials, components and final goods.

Mikhail Myasnikovich focused on improving the mechanism of public procurement. He said that uniform rules for determining the country of origin of goods for public procurement purposes have already been developed, which are constantly being improved. When developing them, the Commission and the Member States adhere to a cooperative approach that promotes the localization of production in the countries of the Union. In addition, the Eurasian Register is functioning, an extract from which confirms the country of origin of the goods and allows businesses to avoid many administrative barriers.

According to the head of the EEC Board, the EAEU countries need to increase the share of high-tech activities. “We need serious investments in a short time. Priority attention should be given to such industries as microelectronics, electronic component base, chemical industry and pharmaceutical industry, aviation and medical industry, automotive and machine tool construction,” Mikhail Myasnikovich stressed.

He also expressed confidence that the achievement of technological sovereignty in our Union is possible on the basis of science-based approaches.

With regard to technical regulation issues, the Chairman of the EEC Board noted that at present, uniform safety requirements have been established for 85% of products traded on the Union market. “More than 15 thousand standards are applied. And the need for interstate standards is only growing. It is very important to ensure the participation of industry and business in the process of their development,” Mikhail Myasnikovich is sure.
