Today, as part of a series of publications about the sights of Tajikistan, “Embassy Life” publishes information about the Botanical Garden of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan or about Bogi “Iram”. This year, a unique collection of botany celebrates its 90th anniversary: the botanical garden was created in Stalinabad (approx. – now Dushanbe) in 1933.

Today, the attraction is called the Bogi “Iram” and is not only a collection of 4.5 thousand plants, but also a place that includes entertainment venues and buildings made in the national style. One of them is the main arch of the botanical garden, which is crowned by a blue dome made in the traditions of national architecture.

In this botanical garden of Dushanbe, located in the Somoni district on the shore of the Dushanbe River, more than 4,500 plant species from all over the planet are collected, some of them are listed in the Red Book. In addition to flower beds and greenhouses, an ethnographic town of crafts and folk architecture with traditional buildings from different regions of Tajikistan has been created here. Exhibitions, fairs and other cultural events are held on holidays. Sports equipment is installed on the central alley; there are two ponds and an aviary with peacocks.

The electronic online publication “Embassy Life” expresses its gratitude To the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Russian Federation for the information and media files provided.

The material was collected and processed by Sofia Chernopyatova.
