About 400 supsurfing enthusiasts became participants of the fifth action on “ice floe hijacking” near the shores of the village of Kanal on Russky Island. The “hunt” for the remaining signs of winter is accompanied by the traditional carnival of the participants of the event, the regional publication Prima Media wrote on Sunday.

“The event unites all lovers of the sea, extreme sports and opens the season of supsurfing. Therefore, of course, it attracts a lot of attention. About 400 people have gathered here today, which is twice as many as last year,” said Mikhail Pilin, the organizer of the event and the trainer—instructor of SUP premium.

In addition to a variety of costumes, the festival was remembered for the participation of the owner of one of the largest saps in Russia. This year, surfers failed to “conquer” a large ice floe due to the warm weather. Nevertheless, the participants of the event “theft” several small ice floes.

*Supsurfing is one of the types of surfing, but differs from its “usual” types in that athletes use paddles for rowing.
