Participants of the Russia—Africa conference discussed strengthening parliamentary cooperation

A plenary session “Russia—Africa in a Multipolar World” is being held in Moscow today as part of the Second International Parliamentary Conference “Russia— Africa”.

The event is attended by more than 40 official parliamentary delegations from most African countries. The Conference is attended by representatives of scientific, educational and expert communities from Russia and African countries, deputies of the State Duma, heads of federal executive authorities, senators of the Federation Council, chairmen of legislative bodies of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, representatives of the business community.

The meeting included speeches by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the IPA CIS Council Valentina Matvienko and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, as well as representatives of the parliaments of the African continent.

The CIS Interparliamentary Assembly is represented at the event by Alexey Dolzhikov, Deputy Head of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council, Head of the Expert and Analytical Department Denis Zhuk and the Head of the External Relations Department Maximillian Selyutin.

The objectives of the Conference are to strengthen parliamentary cooperation with African countries in the context of the formation of a multipolar world, the development of relations and the development of common approaches to legal regulation in the economy, in the field of science and education, in the field of security.
