According to information from the Turkish Anadolu agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed his country’s readiness to assist in organizing a dialogue between Ethiopia and Egypt about the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. He made his statement during a press conference held on Monday after a meeting with his colleague Sameh Shukri.

Turkey, according to the head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, has experience in solving issues related to water resources of other states. In addition, Cavusoglu stressed the high level of relations with all parties to the conflict.

Mevlut Cavusoglu also spoke about the results of his talks, noting that Turkey and Egypt have many areas of cooperation, including energy, education, investment, etc.

“We have touched on everything: from energy, transport, transport to our firms and investments here. We touched upon all issues of energy, logistics, education, culture. The Egyptian side wants Turkish companies to increase their investments in Egypt,” the Foreign Minister concluded.

Recall that the construction of the dam has been underway on the Nile since 2011. According to analysts, the completion of the project implemented by Ethiopia will lead to water shortages in Sudan and Egypt, since these countries are located downstream of the river.
