The Turkic States have created a Geographical Council

Tashkent will become the headquarters of the new association, and the head of the Uzbek geographical society was elected as the first head. Uzbekistan’s presidency will last three years.
A Geographical Council of Turkic States has been established in Central Asia. The new integration association appeared on the initiative of the Kazakh society “Qazaq Geography”. This is reported on his website.
The agreement on the establishment of the Geographical Council of the Turkic States was signed by representatives of geographical societies of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkey.

The goals of the new association are to deepen cooperation between Turkic—speaking research institutes and public associations, joint study of the historical and cultural heritage of the region, as well as the environmental agenda and public diplomacy.

“We see serious prospects in the creation of the Geographical Council of the Turkic states and have high hopes for joint work and its result,” said Orman Nurbayev, head of Qazaq Geography.

The structure and statutory documents of the association will be approved in the near future.
