The project “Russian Teacher Abroad” has turned six years old. Tajikistan became the first country to participate in the humanitarian program. Now more than 70 Russian teachers work in 22 schools of the republic. MIR 24 correspondent Alexander Veselov visited the lesson.

Rosa Zalilova teaches biology. I came to Tajikistan from Russia five years ago. I fell in love with the republic for its oriental hospitality and national flavor. She quickly endeared herself to her students and motivated them to study, even if it was difficult.

“We came here on a mission to teach the guys the program that we have in Russia. Of course, there were difficulties, in the first year it was necessary to teach them a lot. The kids are smart, they grasp everything quickly,” said Rosa Zalilova, a biology teacher at Gymnasium No. 74.

Tajikistan also became a second home for Rosa Aidar’s husband. As part of a humanitarian project, he teaches geography. The school pays for the rent of an apartment and public transport for the family of Russian teachers.

“If we need some elements of everyday life, they buy. Just last year they bought us a washing machine and a TV. All this is available, they pay for our housing,” said Aidar Zalilov, a geography teacher at Gymnasium No. 74.

The project is already six years old. It turned out to be so successful that the number of teachers was almost tripled. Now 75 teachers from different regions of Russia work in the schools of the republic. The salary is formed from two sides – part is taken over by the receiving party, the rest is Russia.

“This is a huge experience for a young specialist, for a teacher. Therefore, I plan to definitely come here next year and continue my work,” said Ivan Savenkov, a chemistry teacher at School No. 21.

“There is a really high competition for classes where Russian teachers work. We regularly involve our colleagues in all projects both through the Embassy and through Rossotrudnichestvo. They are happy to get involved,” said Ivan Ivanov, head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Tajikistan.

Russian teachers teach not only in Dushanbe, but also in Khujand, Kulyab, Bokhtar, Khorog and other settlements of the republic.

In addition to Tajikistan and other Central Asian countries, schools from Serbia, Vietnam and Turkey participate in the Russian Teacher Abroad project.
