Gazprom Neft has announced the launch of a project for the transportation of goods by unmanned road transport. The first unmanned KAMAZ trucks went on flights in the Arctic: at the Vostochno-Messoyakhskoye field located on the Gydan Peninsula of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. The vehicles transport cargo along a 140-kilometer winter road connecting the autonomous oil field with the village of Tazovsky.

The safety of unmanned cargo transportation is provided by a navigation satellite system, Gazprom Neft notes. Vehicles are equipped with several types of sensors that build a digital road map, scan objects in the frontal zone, recognize obstacles within a radius of 200 meters, fix static and moving objects. The unmanned column is controlled using Russian software.
