The first CIS network educational campus of the D. I. Mendeleev Russian University of Chemical Technology (RCTU) and the M. H. Dulati Taraz Regional University (TarRU) was inaugurated in Almaty.

As reported by The Ministry of Education and Science, the network campus is an international educational project for the training of qualified specialists of chemical industry enterprises in the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Konstantin Mogilevsky, within the framework of the Concept of Humanitarian policy of the Russian Federation abroad, approved by the head of state last year, Russia and Kazakhstan are strengthening ties in the field of education and science.  The Ministry of Education and Science supports and develops various formats of interaction between Russian universities and higher educational institutions of the CIS countries. Among them are online educational formats and double degree programs. The Deputy Minister noted the importance of the participation in this work of industrial partners who are interested in highly qualified personnel. The industrial partner of the network educational campus is Kazphosphate LLP, the largest representative of the Kazakhstan market in the production of phosphorus—containing products and a customer of personnel in the field of chemical technology.

This year, the first two-degree educational program “Technology of inorganic substances” starts within the network campus. Its main focus is the production of fertilizers. The first enrollment for the program will take place in the summer, those who wish will be able to enroll both in the first year and transfer to the second and third courses from other universities in Kazakhstan. First—year students are allocated 175 places, for 2nd and 3rd year students – 150 places each. Graduates of the bachelor’s degree will be awarded two diplomas — D. I. Mendeleev RCTU and M. H. Dulati TarRU. In addition, 15 undergraduates will be recruited this year.

According to Ilya Vorotyntsev, Acting Rector of the D. I. Mendeleev Russian State Technical University, the launch of a network educational campus in the chemical industry is a significant step in the development of the educational space of the CIS countries. Graduates will be given knowledge and interdisciplinary competencies that allow them to work successfully on modern equipment and design production lines. The network program will be taught by those who personally participated in the launch of the largest chemical industry plants in the CIS countries, including in Kazakhstan.

According to the structure of the educational program, in the first and second year students will study at the M. H. Dulati Taraz Regional University, then, thanks to the academic exchange program, they will study for a year at the D. I. Mendeleev Russian Technical Technical University in Moscow. In the 4th year, they will have an internship at enterprises in Kazakhstan, then they will be guaranteed a job. In addition to state grants, targeted educational grants for training are allocated by the Akimat of Zhambyl region and Kazphosphate LLP.
