Rusatom — Additive Technologies, part of the Rosatom Fuel Company, presented the largest 3D printer in Russia at the Metalloobrabotka-2023 exhibition. The device operates on the technology of direct laser cultivation (PLV). The machine is equipped with two industrial six-axis robots and a positioner with a lifting capacity of up to 8 tons.

The PLV installation was developed by the integrator Rusatom – Additive Technologies together with the Institute of Laser and Welding Technologies of SPbGMTU. This is the largest installation using PLV technology in Russia.

The installation is designed for the manufacture of products with a maximum diameter of 2200 mm and a height of 1000 mm. It is equipped with two industrial 6-axis robots and a positioner with a load capacity of up to 8 thousand kg.

With the help of the printer, it is possible to produce large-sized products up to 2.4 kg/h in the case of powder materials made of nickel alloys, stainless and heat-resistant steels.

The device can be used in all key industries – nuclear, aviation, shipbuilding, space. The use of a new PLV installation at metalworking plants in the nuclear industry will not only reduce the cost of manufacturing large-sized products, but also reduce their production time. In addition, specialists will now be able to start developing new promising designs.
