These data were announced on May 26 by the head of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov on the eve of a joint meeting of the presidium of academic cents of the two countries.

BelTA informs that a representative delegation headed by Academician Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has arrived in the Belarusian capital to participate in the meeting. The event is also attended by the State Secretary of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev and the President of the SIC “Kurchatov Institute” Mikhail Kovalchuk.

Commenting on the prospects for joint work, the head of the NAS explained that scientists intend to develop cooperation in the field of space, microelectronics and software development.

By the way, according to him, it is thanks to joint programs that the “Belarusian space system has been developed, a whole series of national supercomputers has been created.” In addition, the academician stated, the nuclear power industry is actively developing. Much has been done and “in the field of the latest materials for mechanical engineering and instrumentation. Microelectronics, agriculture, pharmacy – attention is paid to all these areas,” Gusakov said.

But life and science do not stand still. A number of promising projects are planned. It is necessary, in particular, “to create a new satellite and even a grouping of orbital objects,” he said.

At a joint meeting of the bureaus, the partners will also agree on software for industrial development. Until now, colleagues have used a foreign scientific product. The agenda of the meeting also includes programs “on microelectronics, on genomic, nature-like technologies,” the Chairman of the Presidium of the NAS explained.

The scientific elite of the two countries will discuss research and development in the field of microelectronics in Russia and Belarus, the research program of the branch of the Kurchatov Institute in the Republic of Belarus, joint projects under the programs of the Belarusian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Science Foundation. Special attention will be paid to the work of colleagues to preserve the historical memory of the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.

At the meeting of the Presidium, academicians and corresponding members of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus will be awarded diplomas of a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the agency reports.
