In preparation for the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding poet and thinker of the East Makhtumkuli Fragi, scientists of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan are working on the creation of the “Encyclopedia of Makhtumkuli Fragi”.
This is the first comprehensive edition, which contains a wide variety of information related to the name of the Turkmen classic, will be published in the anniversary year in digital and printed form.
The main content of the encyclopedia is preceded by statements about the poet-patriot and great teacher Makhtumkuli from the books of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Almost thirty sections of the extensive work will reflect: the poet’s life and creative path, the socio-political situation of his time, the importance of the literary and creative school founded by him, the role of Makhtumkuli in improving the Turkmen language and literature, the influence of his work on famous representatives of Oriental literature, the study of the creative heritage of the Turkmen classic in various countries, etc.
The encyclopedia will include scientific information about the manuscripts of the works of the great poet, explanations of some of his poems, as well as information about his religious and moral views, madrasas where he studied, and places where he traveled.
Makhtumkuli Fragi is one of the great masters of the artistic word, whose work arouses the interest of scientists not only in Turkmenistan, but also in many foreign countries. The encyclopedia will present information about the research works of Russian, English, Persian, Turkish, Uzbek, Tajik, Azerbaijani, Kyrgyz, Kazakh, Tatar, Karakalpak scientists studying the literary heritage of Makhtumkuli, as well as information about these scientists.
It is known that Makhtumkuli’s poems have been translated into many languages of the world, information about the poet’s life and work is contained in dictionaries and various encyclopedic publications in Turkmen and foreign languages. Therefore, the “Encyclopedia of Makhtumkuli Fragi” includes an index of publications in Turkmen and foreign languages devoted to the literary heritage of the poet-sage, scientific and popular scientific articles designed for specialists and a wide readership.
Separate sections of the encyclopedia are devoted to the image of the classic poet in works of art, films, theatrical productions, the place of his poems in the art of bakhshi. Special attention is also paid to the perpetuation of the name of Makhtumkuli, which is distinguished by the breadth corresponding to the scale of his personality. The picturesque and sculptural images of the poet, carpet portraits, institutions bearing his name, districts, villages, museums, parks, streets not only in Turkmenistan, but also beyond its borders reflect the great veneration of the great humanist poet. whose creative heritage has become a literary and spiritual value for all mankind.
