About the upcoming first Russian-Brazilian meeting in the “two plus two” format

On February 16, Moscow will host the first meeting of the foreign and defense ministers of Russia and Brazil in the “two plus two” format. The event will be attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation S.K.Shoigu and their Brazilian counterparts K. Fransa and V.Braga Net, respectively.

It is planned to jointly analyze trends in the development of the situation in the world and individual regions, including military and political aspects, to conduct a thorough exchange of views on the topic of interaction in the UN, its Security Council and other international platforms, as well as within the framework of BRICS. The agenda includes the peaceful use of outer space, the problems of combating terrorism and drug trafficking, non-proliferation and arms control, international information security.

The issues of the Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership will be considered, ways of its further deepening will be outlined.

Russia and Brazil are in favor of further strengthening the foundations of a polycentric world order, and they are united in following fundamental principles such as respect for sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs, peaceful settlement of disputes, and the rule of international law.
