On February 15, the Russian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting of the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov with the Chairman of the Supreme Religious Council of the Druze of Israel, Sheikh Moafak Tarif.
During the detailed conversation, which was also attended by the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Syrian settlement A.L. Lavrentiev, the current situation in the Middle East was discussed with an emphasis on the situation in Syria. The Russian side stressed its commitment to maintaining the historically established constructive interaction with the Druze communities of the Middle East region and their leaders.
The participants of the meeting confirmed the importance of preserving the national, confessional and cultural diversity of the States of the Middle East while ensuring their unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty.
