On February 16, the first Russian-Brazilian meeting in the “two plus two” format took place in Moscow. On the Russian side, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu took part in it, on the Brazilian side – Foreign Minister K. Fransa and Defense Minister V. Braga Netto.
A thorough, in-depth exchange of views and assessments on trends in the development of the situation in the world and individual regions, including military and political aspects, was held. The interaction in the UN, its Security Council, to which Brazil was elected as a non-permanent member for 2022-2023, BRICS, as well as in other international formats, was considered in detail. Special attention was paid to such topics as the problems of combating terrorism and drug trafficking, non-proliferation and arms control, international information security.
The general mood for strengthening the relations of the Russian-Brazilian strategic partnership was confirmed.
