On February 16, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov had a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan D.A.Bayramov.
Topical issues and prospects for further development of the Russian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership, including the schedule of upcoming contacts, were discussed.
An exchange of views took place on a number of regional and international topics. Special attention is paid to the situation in Transcaucasia, primarily to the process of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. In this context, the importance of strict compliance with all the provisions of the trilateral agreements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020, as well as January 11 and November 26, 2021 was emphasized.
The Ministers reviewed the discussion of Russian initiatives on ways to ensure sustainable legal guarantees of security. The general opinion was expressed on the need to give real content to the commitments of the participating countries approved at the OSCE at the highest level to ensure equal and indivisible security in the Euro-Atlantic.
