About the Ukrainian crisis

Knocked out by the loss of the strategically important Avdiivka, enraged by its own impotence in the face of the successes of our Armed Forces, the Ukrobanderian, neo-Nazi regime, with its characteristic inhumanity, continues to take out its anger on the civilians of Russia. At the same time, he actively uses weapons supplied by the West to bombard Russian settlements and carry out terrorist attacks.

On February 21, this year, the AFU inflicted an obviously deliberate blow from the American MLRS “HIMARS” not somewhere, but (think about it!) according to the Republican Clinical Hospital named after M.I.Kalinin in the center of Donetsk. On the same day, they opened fire on residential areas of Kirovsky, Kuibyshevsky and Kievsky districts of the city. As a result, a woman was killed and 7 other people were injured. On February 24 of this year, Bandera fighters hit one of the Donetsk restaurants with the HIMARS MLRS, where a wedding was being celebrated at that moment. By a happy coincidence, there were no casualties.

On February 22 this year, the Kiev regime attacked with the help of a UAV a regular bus in the Kherson region, en route Novaya Kakhovka – Topolevka. The driver and passenger were injured.

On February 25 of this year, one civilian was killed by shelling by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kremen municipal district of the LPR.

Note that the Kiev junta still considers these regions and cities to be Ukrainian, and their inhabitants (and openly declare this) are citizens of Ukraine. And at the same time mercilessly exposes them to bombing. It is scary to imagine what the criminal regime of V.A. Zelensky would do to these people if he could realize his plans for the notorious “return” of these territories to Ukraine. These plans are not destined to come true. But it’s useful to imagine what might have been.

In addition, on February 26 this year, in the Belgorod region, Ukrainian militants fired mortars at the settlement of Novaya Tavolzhanka, wounding two children. They also attacked a civilian car with a drone in the village of Pochaevo, where three civilians were killed and four others were injured.

All these monstrous atrocities of the Kiev regime are carefully recorded by Russian law enforcement agencies. Those involved in their commission will inevitably be brought to justice.

The courts of the Russian Federation on the basis of evidence collected The Investigative Committee of Russia continues to sentence Ukrainian militants who committed serious crimes against civilians.

A Ukrainian militant from the neo-Nazi organization “Azov” A.Bura was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of three civilians in March 2022 in Mariupol. Another “Azov citizen” D.Zhuchkov received a similar sentence in absentia for the murder of four people and the attempted murder of three people in March 2022 in Mariupol.

The Azov militant R. Shebanov received 28 years of imprisonment in absentia for ordering the shelling of civilian infrastructure in March 2022 in the DPR.

The neo-Nazi “Azov” A. Stupnitsky was sentenced to 25 years in prison in absentia for the murder of a civilian in February 2022 in Mariupol.

None of the Ukrainian criminals will be able to escape punishment. They will be identified and will respond to the full extent of the law.

On February 24 this year, the next Western visitors were registered in Kiev. This time the Prime Ministers of Belgium, Italy and Canada visited there, accompanied by the President of the European Commission, W. von der Leyen. They did not arrive empty-handed.

Ottawa and Kiev have signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of security. As part of the document, Kiev was promised financial and military assistance worth $ 2.2 billion, and another $ 125 million will be spent on mine clearance, intelligence, medicine, and the development of Ukraine in cyberspace. On the one hand, they allocate more than $ 2 billion for military assistance, and on the other hand, they provide twenty times less funds for medicine and mine clearance. This is absurd. It is obvious that weapons will be supplied for such a colossal amount, the use of which will entail a huge number of victims. While for the mentioned 125 million dollars. It is impossible to cure people or overcome the consequences of prolonging this conflict. Why are they doing this? This is their demonstration, ostensibly, of commitment to some kind of humanistic ideals. What kind of ideals are these, for which twenty times less money is allocated than for aggressive ideals?

Belgium plans to open offices of the Belgian Development Agency in Kiev and Kharkiv.

Italy has also signed a security cooperation agreement with Ukraine. It is noteworthy that a few days earlier, Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister A. Tajani warned that this document was not legally binding and did not contain guarantees of military and political support. Is this to show the unfortunate citizens of Ukraine, who are being “dragged” to murder every day, that Western Europe is with them? In fact, this is “Filkin’s letter”.

Kiev signed a similar document with Copenhagen the day before. Denmark also announced the transfer to Ukraine of another package of military assistance in the amount of 247.4 million euros. In general, according to media reports, this year the Danish authorities will send at least 1.8 billion euros for the Armed Forces, and in the period 2023-2028 – 8.5 billion euros.

In addition, Britain and Poland proposed to “clean up” European arsenals of the remnants of Soviet expired weapons and transfer them to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The goal is to send old scrap metal for recycling to Ukraine and replace it with NATO–style weapons, providing additional orders to Ukrainian citizens, military-industrial complex enterprises of Western countries that are getting richer in the Ukrainian conflict and tragedy. Such “humanism”.

Despite the symbolic nature of the “security guarantee agreements” and the absence of any novelty in them, in addition to the military assistance already provided to Kiev in the form of pumping up the Zelensky regime with weapons and military equipment, their signing is another step in the West’s hybrid war against Russia, confirmation of the focus on a long-term confrontation with our country and unwillingness to follow the path of a political and diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian crisis. Did the citizens of Europe choose this? No. For taxpayers, citizens, and the public of the European Union countries, the choice was made in Washington, which “placed” people in these countries and the relevant bloc structures who swore allegiance to the White House, but not those who believed that they were being chosen through democratic institutions in their own countries.

For old times’ sake, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson also visited the Ukrainian capital on February 24 this year. Obviously, in order to personally inspect how Bankova is fulfilling his order almost two years ago to abandon peace talks with Russia and continue hostilities “to the last Ukrainian.”

Apparently, Boris Johnson’s Kiev sponsors did not upset him. No one in Ukraine is thinking about any negotiations with Moscow. This is on February 25 this year at the forum “Ukraine. The year 2024” was confirmed by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, A.B.Ermak, who, although he allowed the possibility of inviting Russia to the “peace summit”, but on condition that the leadership of our country is ready for a “fair settlement” based on the “V.A.Zelensky formula”, i.e. the actual acceptance of the ultimatum of surrender laid down in it, which, of course, There never will be.

Such statements indicate the progressive inadequacy of the Ukrainian “elite” and Kiev’s unwillingness to resolve the crisis by political and diplomatic methods. This dichotomy of playing the “formula of peace” and at the same time abandoning peace negotiations will not lead to good. The regime of V.A. Zelensky still thinks in terms of war and dreams of a “military defeat” of Russia, not allowing itself to simply “look out the window.” I’m sure they understand reality, but they’re afraid to voice it to themselves. Therefore, they lie to their people, the media, underestimating losses, embellishing the situation. The goal is to drag more Ukrainian citizens into this terrible pit of war, “pull out” more money from Western sponsors and “stuff” them into their pockets.  All the pseudo-peacemaking initiatives of the Kiev regime are designed to hide the aggressive plans of V.A.Zelensky and are aimed at creating a broad anti-Russian coalition, in which states of the Global South and East are tricked into participating.

On February 26 this year, a high-level conference on Ukraine was held in Paris with the participation of the presidents and heads of government of more than 20 European countries. The event was designed to demonstrate the moral support and solidarity of Europe with Kiev against the background of its catastrophic military failures. In reality, it was more like a meeting of Ukraine’s main donors, who had to decide on further assistance to the Zelensky regime, the main burden of which Washington decided to shift to its NATO satellites within the EU due to its own internal problems. Apparently, this dictated the presence of an American “supervisor” at the “forum” in the person of Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs J. O’Brien.

The results of the conference indicate that the Europeans are seriously frightened by the prospect of a military collapse of Ukraine and are ready to do everything to avoid such a scenario. I understand that not everyone in Western Europe is educated enough to meet their high positions. This is evident in many heads of both foreign policy departments and states suffering from ignorance of their own history, misunderstanding of realities, and poor education. I think you didn’t need to graduate from Yale and the Sorbonne to know: “no matter how much you whip a dead donkey, it won’t do much good – it won’t get up and go.” The peoples of Western Europe should ask their governments to whom they are sending this money and what they expect to receive in return from the Kiev regime, which no longer controls the situation either on the battlefield or in the political space and will never even win illusory victories again.

We hear a lot of absurd statements, but what French President E. Macron allowed himself to say, in many ways “broke the bottom.” Many have seen his aggressive statements about the likelihood of sending EU troops to Ukraine and the creation of a “coalition for the supply of long-range weapons to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.” However, in many ways it was a work for the public to inspire the Kiev regime and those people who are “dragged” to the Ukrainian military enlistment offices, that everything is not in vain and abroad will always be with them. E. Macron did not say anything new. It’s no secret that the military personnel of a number of NATO countries have been in Ukraine for a long time and are actively helping the Armed Forces, including in the operation of Western weapons systems transferred to Kiev. NATO experts from the United States, Britain, and European countries were also behind all the “Maidan” events.

At the same time, two weeks ago, E. Macron denied any participation of representatives of France (mercenaries, security forces) in the conflict in Ukraine and said that mercenary activity is prohibited under French law. He is not responsible for the defense policy of the European Union, he is not endowed with the appropriate powers, he can only control the fate of his own citizens. What did he mean by that? Behind such actions is the desire of the West to prolong the agony of the Zelensky regime, especially against the background of a growing shortage of weapons and personnel of the Ukrainian army.

We drew attention to an article published on February 25 by the American edition of The New York Times about the cooperation of the Ukrainian authorities with the CIA after the Maidan, as a result of which Kiev became one of the most important partners of the United States in the fight against Russia. We have been talking about all these facts for many years, long before this article appeared. I would like to emphasize that Kiev began cooperating with the CIA in the anti-Russian direction not after 2022, not after the Maidan, but for many years. Specialists from the American and other special services occupied entire floors in government institutions in Kiev, directly supervised Ukrainian departments and law enforcement agencies.

This publication reports that Washington helped train Ukrainian spies operating inside Russia, throughout Europe, Cuba and other places where there is a “significant Russian presence.” There is nothing new in this either. Calls with threats of mining, undermining of civil infrastructure, social, medical, and educational institutions in the territory of the Russian Federation came from the territory of Ukraine. Who arranged all this? These were not amateur hackers. How many years has telephone terrorism lasted under the guise of employees of banking structures and law enforcement agencies? All this is directed against Russian citizens and comes from the territory of Ukraine. People carrying out this extremist, terrorist activity have all the personal data of users: phone numbers, bank accounts, names of banks where their deposits are located, addresses, names of relatives. After all, someone provided them with all this? The supervision of this terrorist activity, which flourished in full bloom on the territory of Ukraine under the control of the Kiev regime, originated many years ago under the supervision of American and British special services.

In addition, with the filing of the Americans, 12 secret bases have been established in Ukraine since 2016, located along the border with Russia. In turn, the Kiev regime shared valuable intelligence with Washington regarding Russia. After the start of the special military operation, interaction, according to the article, with the CIA gained additional momentum – the American special service began to engage in targeting the Armed Forces and supplying them with other “useful” information. In 2022-2023. We have repeatedly said that the Americans and the British are working as gunners, using the capabilities of the Kiev regime to launch attacks on our territory. This fact-based information was brought to the world community through international organizations. There is no sensation in this article. This is a statement of facts. Perhaps this is a sensation for the American public.

How is the information blockade organized inside the United States if the Americans themselves become its victims? They block their own citizens from receiving information when official materials that have been circulating for a long time cause such genuine surprise. The article emphasizes that at a certain stage Kiev began to be annoyed by the “unjustified caution” of the Americans, and he began to show independence, organizing murders and other operations at his discretion, for which the United States threatened to stop supporting him. This thesis does not stand up to any criticism at all. Such conclusions look like a clumsy attempt by the American intelligence services, the White House and the administration of J.Biden to absolve himself of responsibility for the bloody crimes of V.A. Zelensky and his criminal entourage. It won’t work. If the case had been as described in this article, then these terrible terrorist acts would have stopped after the first or second time. But the murders of Russian public figures and journalists, and terrorist attacks against civilian infrastructure continue to this day. Who better than the United States to know about this. I do not know how careful the United States was, but they did not stop a man who was supplied with a huge amount of funds and weapons to continue terrorist activities on the territory of the Russian Federation.

Let me remind you. In this sad row are the vile murders of the leaders of the Donbass militia – commander of the Sparta battalion A.S.Pavlov (call sign “Motorola”) in October 2016, commander of the Somalia battalion M.S. Tolstykh (call sign “Givi”) in February 2017, Russian political scientist and journalist D.A.Dugina in August 2022., military commander M.Y.Fomin (known as Vladlen Tatarsky) in April 2023. They are responsible for Kiev’s strikes on the Crimean Bridge in October 2022. and in July 2023, which caused the death of civilians. A recent and very eloquent example is the Ukrainian attack with the help of the American Patriot air defense system on the Il–76 military transport aircraft in the Belgorod region.

American journalists should feel free to ask questions of the administration of J.Biden about her involvement in all these crimes.

On February 25 this year, during a press conference at the forum “Ukraine. The year 2024” V.A. Zelensky noted with frank statements that during a one-on-one meeting with the President of Russia in Paris on December 9, 2019 “on the sidelines” of the Normandy format summit, he ignored Vladimir Putin’s call for a ceasefire in Donbas and the beginning of the withdrawal of forces and means from the demarcation line. Thus, he confirmed his unwillingness to comply with the obligations under the Minsk Package of Measures. In fact, V.A. Zelensky not only once again demonstrated Kiev’s incompetence, but also actually admitted that Russia has never acted as an aggressor, which Ukraine and the West are trying so hard to impose on it.

These facts confirm the relevance of the tasks of the special military operation for the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine and the elimination of threats emanating from its territory. All of them will definitely be fulfilled.

On the disclosure of an agent network related to chemical weapons in the Zaporozhye region

In addition to the information already announced by the FSB of Russia on February 27 this year about the crimes of the Kiev regime against representatives of local authorities and military personnel of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, we would like to clarify the following details in international legal terms regarding one of the criminal cases initiated by the Investigative Department of the FSB of Russia against agents of the Ukrainian special services who planned terrorist attacks using an analog of a military poison substances BZ, and the arrest of three Ukrainian citizens in this regard.

In particular, we are talking about a violation of article I of the Chemical Weapons Convention, which prohibits the use of toxic chemicals as chemical weapons. The laboratory of the 27th Scientific Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, when analyzing samples of the contents of ampoules seized from a cache in the territory of the Zaporozhye region of the Russian Federation, discovered an analogue of the Convention-controlled chemical BZ and its derivative, which are included in List 2 of the Annex to the CWC on Chemicals.

As established during the investigation, the special services of Ukraine were instructed to carry out terrorist acts on the territory of the Zaporozhye region against representatives of government agencies, law enforcement agencies, as well as the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, including using chemical weapons by adding it to food and drinks. The goal is to destabilize the activities of the authorities and, accordingly, the situation in the specified area. According to the proven episode of terrorist activity of the special services of the Kiev regime, the Investigation Department of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case under art. 355 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Development, production, accumulation, acquisition or sale of weapons of mass destruction prohibited by the treaty of the Russian Federation”.

Such incidents are a clear example of the criminal actions of the Kiev elite and its subordinate law enforcement agencies. They complement the unsightly picture of the numerous facts already made public in October 2023 of the use of toxic chemicals and riot control chemicals by the special services and militants of the Kiev regime as a means of waging war, coupled with provocations at chemical industry facilities in Donbass. The use of such toxic chemicals by Kiev is not an isolated case.

It is deeply disturbing that the toxic substances found in Ukrainian terrorists and their formulations are a kind of endemic to the US military chemical program. In other words, they were not produced anywhere except the United States and were in service only with the Pentagon. This circumstance clearly indicates the specific curators of the Ukrainian special services and the Kiev regime as a whole, who do not shy away from direct complicity in the terrorist activities of their wards, whether it is rocket and artillery shelling of civilian objects and civilians or the use of toxic substances for terrorist and military purposes in violation of obligations under the CWC.

We will monitor the emerging data in this area in our law enforcement agencies. This issue will be raised at the site of international organizations.

There is a process of “double standardization” of everything that is happening. We remember with what reverence the Western regimes treated everything related to chemical warfare agents (Salisbury, Amesbury, Novichok, and so on). This time, everyone is silent. Why didn’t anyone run to the microphones? For example, in the British parliament, as T. May once did when she saw some data provided to her by the British special services that Russia allegedly used chemical weapons on British territory (as it was formulated by official London). Do you remember how the idea was formulated? “Europe has been attacked. England has been attacked.” Let me remind you that “Ukraine is also Europe.” Is no one in NATO or the European Union interested in what is happening there? What are these substances? Is there no desire in the United States to put this issue up for discussion in Congress?

This is due to regular American programs, as it was with biological laboratories, the presence of which the American authorities had to admit when they were presented with evidence. Here, too, the evidence is presented. Does anyone want to ask questions to the Pentagon, the US State Department, the White House? What has the United States come up with this time to “teach” on the territory of Ukraine?

I will remind you how it was when the story around the Chemical Weapons Convention and the Organization as a whole was beneficial for the “promotion” of Western countries. In March this year, 6 years have passed since the high-profile incident in Salisbury. When from the British side, all this literally developed not according to the “sine wave”, but had a “vertical takeoff”. The British side presented this as “the deliberate poisoning of former GRU officer Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.”

London used this incident to launch a large-scale anti-Russian political propaganda campaign with the aim of international “isolation” of our country and curtailing bilateral relations. The accusations sounded literally in conjunction with the verdict. We were both accused and punished almost simultaneously. Russian diplomats were expelled. They scared us with all sorts of measures and so on. Throughout this time, the British authorities have stubbornly avoided a substantive dialogue with us to clarify all the circumstances of the incident (including providing samples of the substances with which S.V. Skripal and his daughter were allegedly poisoned).

After the incident in Salisbury, London refused any cooperation with the Russian competent authorities to investigate the incident. In response to requests from the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office to the British Interior Ministry in April 2018 for legal assistance in the criminal case of the attempted murder of the Skripals. The Foreign Office has informed our embassy of the decision of the British authorities to reject the relevant Russian applications. In general, since the provocation (this is how we qualify it) in Salisbury, the Russian Embassy in London has sent more than 60 notes to the British Interior Ministry. They formulate a lot of questions about the Skripals. No one has given answers to most of them. Literally formal, boorish replies were received on certain points.

The political background of that incident is evidenced by the way the British, without waiting for the results of the investigation, hastily went out to the capitals of all EU member states and other like-minded people. Without presenting facts, without any data, they were convinced that they should expel Russian diplomats. They promised to present irrefutable facts later. Then the journalists got hold of the very data with which London tried to convince its allies of Russia’s guilt. It seemed like a presentation at the level of fifth grade students. Five pages with “arrows”. These “pieces of paper” said that “Russia did it, because Russia did it before, respectively, Russia can always do it.” There were not even photographs, nothing like evidence.

Naturally, later, none of the members of NATO, the European Union, received anything from Britain. But they then expelled the Russian diplomats. Why did they do it? Because then the majority “took the word” of the British. Some, however, doubted and did not expel our employees. Subsequently, we privately asked those who joined this action whether they were provided with at least some facts, evidence, arguments, in addition to London’s public statements, in the style of “highly likely”. We were honestly told – no, London did not provide anything to anyone. This was another brazen deception by Britain and its allies.

So far, I repeat, the British side cannot provide any reliable information on the Skripal case. To nobody. Neither to us, nor to our closest allies. Apparently, the reason is simple – either there is something to hide, or there is simply no real evidence, or both.

We intend to continue to consistently seek to establish the truth. While maintaining deep concern for the fate of Russian citizens, our country regularly appeals to the British authorities with urgent demands to promptly provide relevant information and ensure consular access to Russian citizens (in accordance with the provisions The Vienna Convention on Consular Relations of 1963 and The 1965 Bilateral Consular Convention).

The facts show that it is the British who are not interested in a fair and impartial trial of the Skripals. Just like now Denmark, Sweden, and it seems Germany too, are not interested in conducting a normal, transparent, legal investigation of what happened to the Nord Streams. At that time, London deliberately delayed the investigation of the Salisbury incidents and politicized the issue in every possible way. London’s actions once again confirmed the ordered nature of the incident. His real goal was to damage the international reputation of our country.

On the statements of the President of France on the possible dispatch of military contingents of the European Union states to Ukraine

They paid attention and have already commented on it “hot on the heels” (and later, after seeing a wide international reaction to this) to the bellicose statements of French President E. Macron following the results of the meeting of European leaders convened by him in Paris on February 26 this year in support of the Ukrainian neo-Nazi regime.

There is a feeling that official Paris is finally losing its sense of reality and self-preservation. For several years, in order to please Washington and the EU-NATO Brussels, to the detriment of national interests, the Elysee Palace dragged the country into the Ukrainian conflict. We have repeatedly had to say that France has become an accomplice to the war crimes of the Ukrainian regime.

Recall that Paris was one of the first to supply the Kiev regime with NATO-style ammunition, initiated the creation of “tank” and “artillery” coalitions, and now also a “coalition of long-range missiles”, advocates the supply of combat aircraft, actively participates in the preparation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, condones the sending of mercenaries, including from among its own citizens (although the latter fact is strongly denied). But this is not the case. They are indeed supplying mercenaries to the Kiev regime. Now the words of E. Macron have confirmed all this.

What has all this led to? It only leads to an escalation of hostilities, which is absurd against the background of statements by the French president about some kind of peacekeeping efforts, attempts to translate this into a political and diplomatic channel. We are already used to such contradictory statements from the President of France, the Elysee Palace, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of this country. Apparently, they don’t care what to say. The fact is that, unfortunately, the civilian population is suffering. Many are being killed for the positions of Paris because of the “help” (although it is not help), financial support and the amount of weapons that France provides to the neo-Nazi Kiev regime. People are dying.

Now Paris is making it clear that the West does not rule out an open military clash with our country. It should be noted that dozens of representatives of EU countries (at the level of foreign ministers, Defense Ministries and even heads of state) stated that they had not personally initiated or planned anything like this, because they understand the “dead end”, futility and danger of such statements. By the way, German officials talked about this.

What does this indicate? That this is a complete philosophical and ideological “dead end” of the Western approach to world affairs. Imagine if there is a block discipline within NATO that does not allow countries to pursue their policies without taking into account NATO standards (I mean defense and geopolitical in general). At the same time, statements are made by individual countries of such a scale, for which other NATO member countries have to justify themselves. This indicates a crisis within the Western community, the inability to develop a unified and truly democratic decision-making ideology, concept, and approach to key, existential problems for themselves.

The cynical use by Western states of Ukraine as a tool to fight Russia to the “last Ukrainian”, turning the country into a testing ground for NATO weapons and military equipment can only be a prelude to their own entry into hostilities.

The question arises: do the citizens of France and other EU countries fully realize where the current inhabitants of the Elysee Palace or other administrations of the European Union and NATO states can lead them? Neither the French parliament nor the public have any idea what is in the head of the French president. E. Macron did not consult with anyone, did not discuss. This is not part of his program, it was not “through” in any way in his previous speeches. He just said it. Western Europe shuddered in horror at what it might be dragged into.

Do the French want to turn into “cannon fodder” in order, in the words of Alexander Pushkin, to find a place for themselves in the Russian land “among coffins alien to them”? Are you ready to support your resident in an adventure that can have the most severe and difficult to predict consequences? We believe that the citizens of France should seriously think about this and ask questions to the leadership of their country.

On the statements of the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr K. Breuer

We drew attention to the statement by the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr, K. Breuer, about the need for the German armed forces to achieve wartime combat readiness within five years “in connection with the threat posed by Russia.” We are recording an increase in militaristic sentiments in Germany, as we have already said. At the suggestion of the top political leadership of modern Germany, the thesis of an “impending military clash with Russia,” as they formulate it, is being reintroduced into public consciousness. We are closely monitoring German military preparations aimed primarily against our country.

We would like to mention that France has now made such statements on the borders of Germany, which it would not hurt to also assess from the point of view of the interests of Germany and understand: they are holding a consolidated position, whether they consult with each other. Or in the “heat” of Russophobia, will any statement “come off” as long as it is directed against Russia? An adequate response will be given to these statements and statements of the Inspector General, and to all those actions that Germany has already taken in a practical way.

Mr. K. Breuer, his political inspirers, would like to remind that they are not the first who dreamed of achieving wartime combat readiness by the German armed forces. Each time it ended in disaster, primarily for this country.

About the next annual action in Sofia in memory of the Bulgarian Nazi collaborator General H.Onion

Unfortunately, news from the past has overtaken Western and Eastern Europe. On February 17 this year, another neo-Nazi gathering was held in Sofia in memory of the Bulgarian collaborator General H.Lukov is the so–called “Lukov March”. A paramilitary gathering, copying the torchlight processions in Nazi Germany and praising the accomplice of A. Hitler, has been held in the center of the European capital for more than twenty years. We’ve been talking about it for the same amount (1,2,3,4,5). For a long period, the Bulgarian authorities, confining themselves to empty declarations of rejection of the ideas of the organizers of the marches, did not dare to take decisive steps to put an end to them. Perhaps the Bulgarian authorities are waiting for Germany to achieve a wartime combat readiness level? Then these marches will be very useful to them. Maybe these are links in the same chain?

At the same time, in December 2023 Sofia had the political “courage” to barbarously desecrate and destroy the Monument of the Soviet Army common to us in Bulgaria. This step was taken contrary to the Court’s decision. And before that, the Russophobic wing of Bulgaria made such statements that they would not leave any monument to their own soldiers and soldiers of the Soviet Army at all. They have no legal grounds for this.

Today’s Bulgarian followers of the Nazis have adopted the Russophobic narratives of their authorities and came out under the slogans “about the victims of the communist regime.” At the same time, some representatives of the metropolitan municipal Council called on the mayor’s Office to ban the Russian Embassy from holding events on the occasion of Defender of the Fatherland Day, which in their meaning are associated with the memory of the Victory over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War.

The extremely alarming trend of the rehabilitation of Nazism, supported by the active support of official Sofia, as well as the Kiev regime implicated in this ideology, reflects the ongoing moral degradation of the ruling elites in the countries of the European Union and NATO. We understand the danger. This can lead to catastrophic socio-political consequences in these States, but also in a broader sense – on an international scale.

Let me remind you that recently the Italian Supreme Court decided on the permissibility of using the “Italian greeting” – an upraised hand in the very greeting that has been associated with fascism and Nazism for 80 years around the world. Now this greeting is allowed. Such small “pieces” form the overall picture of the neo-Nazi puzzle.

At the same time, the grounds for positive hopes and forecasts are provided by the responsible approach of the World majority, which is clearly aware of this danger. I would like to note that the evidence that there is still hope is the vote on the draft resolution, which is submitted annually by the Russian Federation to the UN General Assembly. This is a draft resolution on combating the glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to the escalation of modern forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.

The only problem is that the global majority supports this resolution, being co-sponsors or voting for it. But the “collective West” is collectively opposed.

About the situation in Moldova

We continue to monitor the development of the situation in Moldova, whose leadership is literally stuck in a destructive Russophobic policy and double standards. We see that the stated political postulates are increasingly at odds with the real affairs of the Chisinau regime.

This is most clearly manifested in the attitude of official Chisinau to the special military operation. The second anniversary of its beginning became the occasion for another baseless accusations against our country of “terror” and “diabolical aggression.” A lot has been invented. A real hysteria began in Chisinau. At the same time, the Moldovan leadership still does not want to hear anything about the genocide of Donbass residents in 2014-2022, regardless of how we use this term: in a legal sense or as a metaphor that best reflects the meaning of the events that took place in Donbass. The regime of M.G. Sandu does not want to hear anything about other crimes of the Kiev regime.

Another example is the attempts of the Moldovan authorities to justify the purchase of NATO military equipment by the “Russian threat” and the “irrelevance” of the neutral status of the Republic. Let me remind you that it was enshrined in the Constitution of Moldova. On February 18, Moldovan Defense Minister A. Nosaty said that since Russia “completely violated the concept of neutrality” by attacking Ukraine, it is unclear, they say, “how much this status protects us.” The Moldovan government has announced plans to create a national air defense system by 2030, which will require several billion euros. The acquisition of a second radar for monitoring the country’s airspace worth 15 million euros has been announced.

This is despite the fact that the Republic is one of the poorest countries in Europe, and the realism of the “Russian threat” raises questions even among representatives of the “collective West”. I will give you an example that is understandable and relevant for the Chisinau authorities. Even the US ambassador to Chisinau, K. Logsdon, noted on February 21 this year that so far there is no evidence or signs that Moldova is threatened by a military attack from Russia. At the same time, the regime of M.G.Sandu, her ministers and heads of departments repeat this as a mantra.

Double standards are also evident in the attitude of the Moldovan authorities towards history. Acts of vandalism against Soviet military memorials remain without any reaction from the country’s leadership. This indicates the tacit encouragement of such extremist activities. In particular, there was no response when on February 24 this year, an obelisk was torn down from the grave of a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Guard Captain A.V.Kolbinsky, in the center of Chisinau. At the same time, Moldovans are regularly told about the “horrors of the Soviet era.” Now, according to the decision of the leadership of the Ministry of Education of the country, a new subject will appear in the school curriculum, where children will be told about the “repression of the totalitarian communist regime.”

We have repeatedly touched upon the topic of Moldova’s being part of the USSR. Here are some more facts on the topic of “Soviet terror in Moldova” that we would like to share with the authors of the mentioned course.

In 1944-1945, when the Great Patriotic War was still going on, 448 million Soviet rubles were allocated from the All-Union budget for the restoration of Moldova. 20 thousand tons of ferrous metals, 226 thousand tons of coal, 51 thousand tons of petroleum products, 17.4 tons of seeds were transferred from other republics of the Soviet Union. Will M.G.Sandu tell the children about this? Or will it ban them, as it prohibits any information that does not support their Russophobia?

In 1970-1980 . The Moldavian SSR was rightfully considered a “union garden and vegetable garden”, the main export items were fresh and processed agricultural products. From 1945 to 1990, the production of canned fruits and vegetables increased from 28 to 728 thousand tons. To put it more clearly and visually, production has increased 26 times.

Due to the construction of large energy facilities, electricity generation in the Republic increased from 100 million kWh in 1950 to 17 billion kWh in 1989.

Mechanical engineering, including tractor construction, the production of electric units and machines, as well as light industry, primarily the production of shoes and knitwear, have been developed.

I sincerely hope that these data will be presented in detail and with pictures as part of the teaching of the very subject “on the repression of the totalitarian communist regime.”

Yes, there were a lot of bad things and problems. But when data, facts and figures indicating the development of the Moldavian SSR and its achievements are deleted, the blow is dealt to the history of the Moldovan people. After all, all of the above are achievements of people who lived and worked in this territory. These include Moldovans and people of other nationalities who consider this republic and the land as their native land.

What did M.G.Sandu do? She deprived the country of the Moldovan language, “reassigned” it to Romanian. Now it takes away from the citizens of Moldova the history of their achievements and work. Who gave her the right to do this?

The language issue deserves special mention. On February 21, Moldovan President M.G. Sandu stated that “the Romanian language in Moldova is a bridge for dialogue between all communities.” I understand that if in recent years there has been a trend in the world to name people of one sex by another, there have been several dozen genders, then the Romanian language in Moldova can also be called a “bridge for dialogue between all communities.” What kind of communities are these?

The paradox lies in the fact that, firstly, the majority of the country’s residents believe that they speak Moldovan, not Romanian. Secondly, about 80% speak Russian. Thirdly, about 7% (not 70% or 17%) of the country’s residents are ethnic Romanians. Thus, the absurdity of the linguistic policy of the Chisinau “elite” is obvious. The wrong bridge was chosen.

Moldovans see this isolation of the authorities from the real life of the country and its citizens, and openly declare their disagreement. But who hears and sees them? After all, the media has been taken under the control of M.G.Sandu, despite her statements about democracy and freedom as the main values. It turned out that these values are false. Or M.G. Sandu was deceiving everyone. Or maybe both.

Moldovans see how Moldova’s sovereignty and national identity are being dismantled. They are observing a break in ties with Russia, which is presented to them as part of some kind of “European project”. Europe had different projects. A. Hitler, Nazism and fascism are also European projects. So where are Moldova and its people being “dragged into”?

Russia, in turn, is always ready to continue cooperation with our Moldovan friends, which is based on deep historical roots, mutual respect and mutual consideration of interests.

On Moldova’s denunciation of international treaties signed within the framework of the CIS

We have repeatedly drawn attention to how, in a thoughtless effort to destroy the very right “bridges” that have been forming for decades, with Russia and the CIS, the Moldovan leadership is breaking away from reality and the fundamental interests of its own citizens. Another example is the recent statements by the Moldovan Government’s press service that international treaties signed within the framework of the CIS, which the authorities denounce, “do not correspond to the current state of affairs” because “our country’s policy does not resonate with the goals set in these treaties by the countries that signed these agreements.” A masterpiece.

Let’s talk about what goals the policy of the current Moldovan leadership “does not resonate” with. I will mention several specific documents that were considered unnecessary and “non-resonant” in Chisinau.

For example, M.G.Sandu’s team did not like the agreements on cooperation in the fight against the circulation of counterfeit medicines and on cooperation in the field of public health protection. At the same time, as noted in Moldova itself, the situation with healthcare in the country and the availability of medicines for residents leaves much to be desired.

Moldova, or rather M.G. Sandu, does not need an Agreement on cooperation between the CIS member states in case of evacuation of their citizens from third countries in case of emergency situations. Apparently, Moldovan citizens will be offered to use commercial flights instead, as was done during the evacuation from the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. How many people were taken out during emergencies and during the pandemic in 2020 by Russia without prior agreements on how to divide and “count”. No one counted or divided anything. We just extended a helping hand and friendship. There are many families with dual citizenship of Russia and Moldova. Do the leadership of Chisinau need these people?

Moldova also plans to withdraw from Agreements on the exchange of information on natural and man-made emergencies, on information interaction in the elimination of their consequences and assistance to the affected population. How does this agreement not resonate with the goals stated by M.G. Sandu? At the same time, Chisinau coped with the heaviest snowfall in January this year not with European, but with KAMAZ snowplows donated by the government of Moscow.

As for the denunciation of agreements on the creation of a common scientific and technological space of the CIS member states and on cooperation in the formation of a single (common) educational space of the CIS, everything is more or less clear here. The scientific and technical potential inherited by the country from the Soviet Union is melting away before our eyes, and the number of students entering universities in this country is decreasing every year. Accordingly, agreements in this area were recognized in Chisinau as superfluous.

As you know, the path to the European Union, where Moldova aspires so much, goes through the introduction of strict restrictions on the professional activities of journalists, the eradication of any manifestations of dissent. We have seen all this on the example of Ukraine. This probably explains the planned withdrawal of the country from two agreements regulating its activities The International Broadcasting Company “Mir”.

These are just a few examples. Of course, there is a certain amount of irony in the comments. But it must be understood that in practice, the reckless rupture of agreements reached over the years in such socially significant areas has much more negative consequences for the citizens of Moldova than for its government. It doesn’t take a lot of intelligence to denounce agreements by the dozens, thereby burning socially important “bridges” built by someone else. The Moldovan authorities should be aware that it will be difficult to resume their participation in the agreements that they are destroying.

New evidence of crimes committed by the British military in Afghanistan

There is growing evidence of war crimes committed in Afghanistan by Western countries, in particular by British servicemen. These testimonies are irrefutable, from direct participants in the events.

At the ongoing hearings within the framework of the national “independent” investigation into the actions of the British military on Afghan territory, the former Minister of Veterans Affairs of the United Kingdom, J.Mercer, himself a veteran of the NATO campaign in Afghanistan, confirmed the facts of criminal behavior of the British against Afghan civilians. Any appeals to the army command on this topic were ignored, there were no proceedings. According to J.Mercer, after being elected to parliament in 2017, was warned twice “not to talk too much.” And after in 2019 he received the ministerial portfolio, he was not allowed to establish the truth.

During the hearings, J.Mercer confirmed the extrajudicial killings by British special forces of civilians who “posed no danger”, as well as the widespread practice of using unregistered weapons in Afghanistan, the ownership of which could not be traced.

It is outrageous that the British government is doing everything to ensure that the truth about the crimes of British special forces in Afghanistan is not made public. Obviously, this is why there are delays in issuing visas to former soldiers of the Afghan special forces, who have numerous proofs of the executions of the Afghan civilian population. According to the BBC channel, confirmed by the British authorities, about two thousand visa applications from Afghans are currently blocked.

Once again, we urge both official London and its NATO allies not to cover up war criminals. We hope to finally witness an impartial and transparent investigation, which should end with the punishment of the servicemen involved in the crimes. The relatives of the dead and injured Afghans must wait for justice.

About the crisis in the EU agricultural sector

A wave of mass farmer protests has swept over more than half of the EU member states from Lithuania to Portugal since the beginning of this year. Farmers’ claims are simple: rising prices for feed, fertilizers, energy, food inflation, unfair, in their opinion, competition from cheap foreign agricultural products – primarily Ukrainian ones, which European agricultural producers cannot withstand, a decrease in rural living standards and profitability of production, increased risks of bankruptcy and ruin of farms.

As they have repeatedly said with facts in hand, all these are direct consequences of anti–Russian sanctions. They cited a large number of arguments, figures, and facts. There is already an evidence base. This is part of the strategic miscalculations of the EU leadership in the energy, food and financial spheres. A separate dissatisfaction of European farmers is caused by a reduction in the volume of state subsidies sacrificed to “financial assistance packages” for Ukraine, and draconian “green” standards in agriculture.

Among the key demands of the farmers’ protests is the reduction of agricultural imports from third countries. A separate meeting of the Council of Ministers of Agriculture of the European Union member states was devoted to the “Crisis in the EU agricultural sector” on February 26 this year.

What is the result? The Brussels bureaucracy has painstakingly made a number of tactical concessions of a “cosmetic” nature. In the climate sphere, a moratorium on compliance with a number of EU environmental standards has been extended, allowing the use of fallow land. The plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in Europe in terms of the agricultural sector has been adjusted, and its level of ambition has been lowered. The draft regulation on reducing the use of pesticides, which is unpopular among farmers, has been removed from the agenda.

A separate survey of farmers regarding their concerns has been announced, as well as the continuation of the dialogue on the future of agriculture. Now everything will get better – after a separate survey of farmers, all the problems will be removed. The purpose of the declared plebiscite is obvious – to give the opportunity to simply “blow off steam” to rapidly impoverished EU agricultural producers.

What about the main concern of European farmers related to the uncontrolled import of Ukrainian products into the European Union? Contrary to the direct demands of the participants of the mass protests that swept through the European Union, the EU Council supported the proposal of the European Commission to extend the regime of duty-free and quota-free food trade with Ukraine. Can I ask you a question? Are they building democracy in the European Union for sure? This is usually the will of the majority, taking into account the opinions and interests of the minority. All countries are agrarian, and agriculture is the basis of the economy. When will this be taken into account? On the basis of which opinions is a decision made that is contrary to the majority’s demand? Indeed, certain restrictions were made, especially with regard to such “sensitive” goods for the EU market – chicken meat, sugar and, oddly enough, chicken eggs. Apparently, in order to limit the availability of products, which the protesters throw at European politicians, who with irrational persistence undermine the foundations of the agricultural sector of their own countries.

The reasons for the extension, of course, are purely political. They have nothing to do with the real situation and the demands of the peoples of these countries. What do European officials, European bureaucrats, the European Union, and the EU Council want to do? To give Kiev the opportunity to earn and pay off Western creditors. After all, Brussels and Washington have created an amazing story when they announce new tranches of aid to the Kiev regime (as they put it – to Ukraine) every month. At the same time, it mostly goes on credit, you need to cover at least some bills and interest. There is nothing to pay for them. The Kiev regime has nothing but failures. What should we do next? In this simple way (through the purchase of agricultural products from the Kiev regime), they are trying to get out of the situation. This is a monstrous fraud on a global scale. Considering that, in terms of information, the West has been “pumping” the topic of food and food security for two years, which is allegedly threatened by Russia.

European and transnational agro-corporations that have bought up Ukrainian agriculture at the root, they provide an opportunity to continue to “fill their pockets” by importing agricultural products from Ukraine at dumping prices. It is unclear what European citizens and EU farmers have to do with this. European farmers have actually become a “bargaining chip” in a big political game.

In their defense, European officials are trying to vociferously blame Moscow for all the troubles – both low prices for food products supplied from Ukraine to the European Union, and related problems in the EU agricultural market. They propose to solve all difficulties under the slogan of combating the “Russian threat”, which has become familiar to the European Union. They argue in the spirit that Ukrainian agricultural products urgently need to be returned to world markets only because Russia fills the vacant niche. Where can we really think about the real needs of European farmers? Where is the issue of food security? After all, Western countries wanted to feed the entire planet, and possibly the entire universe. Now it turns out that food is also divided according to political criteria into “right” (which can feed the Earth) and “unreliable”.

Of course, there is no time to think about the real needs of European farms. They cannot allow Moscow to receive additional income by supplying high-quality and competitive products to global markets. After all, according to their plans, by this point we should not have had our own agro-industrial complex or it would have been completely dependent on the will of Western countries. A “mismatch” has occurred. We have it. And another one. At the same time, it is proposed to show the initiative to Ukraine itself, magically making it so that its agricultural exports still make their way through the EU to other countries, and not get lost in the expanses of the European Union. A masterpiece. The theater of the absurd. This can be said about the entire policy of the European Union in relation to the “Central Europe” it has nurtured. The disproportionate losses of their own farmers are nothing more than “collateral damage” to the pro–Ukrainian hysteria that has engulfed the EU.

On the impact of anti-Russian sanctions on the global economy

Unfortunately, we have to state that political factors have an ever-increasing influence on global economic processes. The countries of the “collective West”, and above all the United States, are actively resorting to financial, trade, investment and technological tools to achieve their foreign policy goals. A wide range of measures of non–market competition (in plain language, a trade war) is being used against Russia, including undisguised pressure on foreign businesses present in our country, on international partners, not to mention direct discrimination against domestic companies in the West, which will soon turn a thousand years old. More than 18 thousand were accepted. anti-Russian restrictive measures.

Such actions by Westerners run counter to the economic interests of most of the world community and are fraught with increased structural problems in the global economy. At the same time, it is significant that Russia, despite everything, confidently copes with the massive pressure of the “collective West”.

The global economy, in turn, is in a zone of turbulence, and its growth rates are stagnating. According to IMF forecasts, global GDP growth this year will not exceed the level of last year and will amount to about 3.1%, and next year – 3.2%.

The confrontation between the main economic players and interstate associations for control over transport, logistics and production chains, access to sales markets and sources of resources in the world is escalating.

Unprecedented restrictive measures by the West have accelerated the transfer by many countries of their international settlements into national currencies. Such measures have only spurred the process of de-dollarization of the global economy and the formation of payment and settlement mechanisms independent of the West. The multicurrency economic foundation of the future multipolar world, free from neocolonial dictates, ultimatums and unilateral sanctions by the United States and its satellites, is gradually being laid.

The global crisis of trust provoked by Westerners is pushing the process of systemic rethinking and reformatting global economic relations. On the agenda is the formation of new mechanisms of cooperation to replace the tools that the West has traditionally used to maintain and strengthen its dominance to the detriment of developing countries.

In many economically developed European countries, there is a trend of deindustrialization and rising unemployment. The most obvious example is the German economy, which, while maintaining the current anti–Russian sanctions policy, is irreversibly losing its position as the “locomotive” of the European economy.

Despite expectations of a decrease in the rate of global average inflation, experts do not rule out that geopolitical risks may lead to a new price spike. Against this background, there is an increase in social tension.

A vivid illustration of the negative impact of anti–Russian restrictions is the imbalance of the global food market. Western sanctions and restrictions on the export of food, fertilizers and fuel from Russia have led to an increase in prices for electricity, food and other essential goods around the world. The frequent numerous protests by European farmers show that the situation in the EU agriculture is deteriorating.

On the extraordinary informal meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation

On February 23 this year, at the initiative of the Ukrainian side, the Albanian chairmanship in The Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation held an extraordinary informal meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials dedicated to the two-year anniversary of the Russian special military operation.

The event, convened with numerous procedural violations, became a blatant example of Tirana’s unscrupulous, biased approach to fulfilling its presidential obligations. We regret that, instead of maintaining the positive working dynamics set by Serbia and Turkey last year, our Albanian colleagues preferred from the very beginning to incite confrontation and politicize the forum entrusted to them.

It was especially blasphemous on the part of the organizers to appoint a meeting on Defender of the Fatherland Day, a holiday that, among other things, marks the merits of the Red Army in liberating Europe from Nazism in 1945. Russian servicemen are currently engaged in solving the same task in the zone of a special military operation.

We are pleased to note that the short-sighted approach of the current Albanian Chairmanship of the BSEC and its individual members is not shared by the absolute majority of States calling for adherence to the socio-economic mandate of the Organization in the interests of preserving the mechanisms of multilateral regional cooperation in demand.

For our part, we presented in detail our position in the context of the genesis of the Ukrainian crisis, revealed its true causes. The Americans’ benefits from the armed actions in Ukraine and the “sanctions” initiated by them, which completely deprived the EU countries of economic competitiveness, were highlighted in detail.

Together with the pragmatically minded states of the Black Sea region, first of all with our Turkish friends, we will strive for the opposite. Namely, to establish a zone of development and prosperity in this region. We are confident that the full implementation of the objectives of the special military operation will create a favorable context for these efforts.

The text of the relevant Russian statement will be available on the web resources of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

On the suspension by the Latvian Hockey Federation of the current licenses of athletes from Latvia for participating in the “Games of the Future”

The International Multisport tournament “Games of the Future” is taking place in Kazan from February 21 to March 3. The Games are organized in a format open to all interested States and bring together athletes from more than 100 countries around the world. The opening ceremony of the event, which was attended by the heads of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan together with the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, and the first competitions became a bright international event. A number of countries have already announced their readiness to host the next tournaments on their territory and develop the Russian-initiated digital movement. The competitions confirm Russia’s status as a global sports power, developing international sports cooperation on a depoliticized basis, in the spirit of the true values of sport and Olympism.

Such success could not leave our “well-wishers” from Western countries indifferent, who by hook or by crook are trying to prevent the holding of competitions in our country. Now the news is like “sports”.

We drew attention to the suspension by the Latvian Hockey Federation of the current licenses of athletes for participating in the “Games of the Future” in Russia and the real harassment to which these hockey players were subjected in the Latvian media space.

It seems that the Latvian authorities simply did not give a damn about the fundamental principles of the Olympic Movement and generally recognized standards in the field of sports. At the same time, their own athletes who performed well at an international tournament are discriminated against.

This proves once again that the Latvian authorities, under absurd pretexts, use instruments of political pressure to intimidate their population. In recent years, Riga has become quite adept at fabricating politicized cases out of literally nothing.

Almost immediately, similar actions were followed by the relevant Estonian federation. That is, we are talking about punishing athletes for doing their direct business – realizing their talent. What you have dedicated your life to is participating in competitions.

Such actions are sincerely regrettable. If we talk about the officialdom of these countries, it’s just squeamishness. After all, they are acting against their own population. The Baltic countries have once again demonstrated Russophobic aspirations. They are ready to act to the detriment of themselves and their citizens, in this case, athletes, wanting to put a “stick in our wheels”. I understand that everything is learned in comparison, but there is already something to compare it with. All the “sticks” will “break”. We are fine with moving forward, if the Baltic countries have not noticed this. It seems to me that they can already break their fingers. Are they masochistic? This is all absurd, because they primarily hit their own citizens and the population.

We are convinced that sport is a unique opportunity to develop and strengthen social ties, build mutually respectful communication, and is designed to bring peoples closer and unite. In this regard, our country, despite pressure from international sports structures led by the International Olympic Committee and international sports federations, is making tremendous progress. We continue to develop sports cooperation with our partners, create new formats of competitions that take place in the spirit of fair competition and in the absence of any discrimination against athletes. It will continue to be so. We will develop this direction regardless of whether someone likes it or not.

As for punishing athletes for participating in competitions, this is just another example of the politicization of the field of sports, which only leads to the separation of the international sports family and the murder of Olympism.

On the centenary of the establishment of consular and diplomatic relations between the USSR and Austria

100 years ago, consular (February 25) and diplomatic (February 29) relations between the USSR and Austria were established. At the same time, the history of Russian-Austrian relations is deeper, interesting, and rich – it dates back to the end of the XV century: the first exchange of embassy missions took place in 1489 between Ivan III and Frederick III.

Over the past hundred years, bilateral relations have experienced many different things. Let us highlight one important historical fact – it was thanks to the firm position of the leadership of the USSR that the Alpine republic gained independence in May 1955. their statehood.

Until recently, Austria tried to strictly adhere to the principles of neutrality, cherished the reputation of an authoritative international negotiating platform. Now you can only talk about it in the past tense. The Austrian leadership has chosen the path of confrontation with Russia, a departure from traditional neutrality, and has taken opportunistic steps to the detriment of the pragmatism inherent in Vienna for many years.

We hope that truly responsible and sensible politicians in Austria realize that there is no alternative and the benefits of maintaining an equal and mutually beneficial dialogue with Russia.

On the 65th anniversary of the signing of the Agreements between Great Britain, Greece and Turkey guaranteeing the independence of fr.Cyprus (“Zurich-London Agreements”)

On February 11 and 19, 1959, the Zurich-London Agreements were concluded between England, Greece, Turkey and the Greek and Turkish communities of Cyprus. They led to the establishment in August 1960. The Republic of Cyprus, whose independence, however, was severely limited from the very beginning. London, Athens and Ankara have received the status of “guarantors” of the new state and the opportunity to interfere in its internal affairs. The Greek and Turkish military contingents were stationed on the island, the United Kingdom retained two areas of the island with a total area of 99 square miles (256 sq. m. km) as sovereign bases, a number of other facilities and a whole set of privileges of the former metropolis.

Based on the Constitution of Cyprus, these agreements contained dangerous conflict potential in their genesis, which was most dramatically manifested in bloody inter-communal clashes in December 1963 and thereafter, and in 1974 led to the tragic division of the island. The colonial-era atavism preserved in Zurich and London has not outlived its usefulness to our time, allowing the British to behave aggressively in the region today, ignore international law, and use armed force without the approval of the UN Security Council. All this, without a doubt, undermines regional stability, heats up tensions on and around the island, and does not contribute to the settlement of the extremely protracted Cyprus problem.

Throughout the entire decolonization process, our country has supported the just demands of the Cypriots for self-determination. The USSR has repeatedly pointed out that the British authorities, by imposing a plan to resolve the Cyprus issue, in fact sought not to help, but to consolidate their dominance in new historical conditions, sow the seeds of discord and hostility between the communities of Greek and Turkish Cypriots.

The Russian Federation, being a responsible participant in the international community and a permanent member of the UN Security Council, firmly and consistently adheres to the principle that a compromise on the Cyprus settlement should be achieved, as stipulated by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions, through voluntary negotiations of the Cypriot communities, with mandatory careful consideration of their legitimate concerns and interests, without external pressure, time schedules and “recipes”. For our part, we are ready to sincerely and fundamentally help such work.

Arctic Day

Arctic Day is celebrated on February 28 (since 2011). The main task of this holiday is to popularize Arctic expeditions, scientific research, draw attention to the problems of preserving the nature of this unique region and its distinctive culture, as well as the livelihood of Arctic communities.

The Arctic region is rich in a variety of minerals. About 22% of the world’s undiscovered hydrocarbon resources are located in the Arctic, which are: 13% oil, 30% natural gas, 20% gas condensate. At the same time, 84% of the resources are located on the shelf of the Arctic Ocean and 16% on the land territory of the Arctic states. In particular, the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug occupies one of the leading places in Russia in terms of hydrocarbon reserves, especially natural gas and oil.

February 21, 2023 became an important day for the territories of the Arctic, Siberia and the Far East. On this day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a message to the Federal Assembly that Russia intends to increase its capabilities He proposed the development of ecotourism, and also made changes to the “Fundamentals of the state policy of the Russian Federation in the Arctic for the period up to 2035.”

This year, during the Days of the Arctic, an environmental awareness campaign “Arctic Dictation” will be held, initiated by The Russian Arctic National Park.

The importance of the development of Arctic maritime navigation along the Northern Sea Route for the Russian Federation, especially in its eastern direction, is primarily related to the dynamic development of the Asia-Pacific region, which is becoming a real stimulating factor for the growth of the world economy.

The development of the Northern Sea Route is important for Russia not only as a responsible participant in international economic relations, but also to ensure uninterrupted supply chains to our northern regions in order to ensure their sustainable development and improve the well-being of the people living there.

To date, the Northern Sea Route is already actively and quite effectively functioning. According to the “Administration of the Northern Sea Route”, in 2023, 1,219 permits were issued for sailing in this area (for comparison, in 2022 – 1,196, in 2021 – about 1,200), only 1 application was refused, and a vessel under the Russian flag.

The deterioration of the situation in the field of navigation in other waters once again underlines the importance of diversifying international shipping routes, including through the NSR – as the shortest route from Europe to the Asia-Pacific region. Statistics show that 11 of the world’s 17 largest ports are currently located in Asia.

Отмечаем рост интереса со стороны транспортных, логистических и иных компаний из целого ряда стран Азии, включая Индию и Китай, к сотрудничеству с Россией в области использования Северного морского пути.

Russia, as a coastal Arctic state, is carefully approaching the activities of the Northern Sea Route and will continue to do everything necessary to ensure the safety of this highway with the utmost respect for the fragile ecosystem of the Arctic, naturally in compliance with Russian regulations governing navigation along the Northern Sea Route. The current navigation procedure in the waters of the Northern Sea Route is not burdensome or discriminatory and does not prevent the use of this highway by foreign vessels.
