We are outraged by another act of vandalism against the symbol of Victory over the Nazi occupiers in Latvia – the memorial to Soviet soldiers-liberators in Riga, which was desecrated by unknown persons on February 25, doused with paints in the colors of the flag of Ukraine.
We have to state that such phenomena are systemic in modern Latvia. This is not surprising in the conditions of cave Russophobia and Riga’s official line on falsification of history, glorification of Nazism.
Meanwhile, Russians, Ukrainians, Latvians shed blood together, liberating Latvian cities from the “brown plague”. The immortality of the feat of our ancestors will not be forgotten.
Our Embassy immediately sent a note to the Latvian Foreign Ministry demanding, in accordance with the intergovernmental Agreement on the social protection of Russian military pensioners of 1994, to take exhaustive measures to investigate and identify those involved in this crime, as well as to bring the monument into proper condition.
