Question: How can you comment on the statements coming from Kiev about the threat posed by the Chernobyl nuclear power plant after it was taken under control by Russian troops?

Answer: Recently, representatives of the Kiev regime, including the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, have made a number of information stuffing about the situation around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. They do not correspond to reality and are misinformation. In this regard, we would like to inform you the following.

The Russian military took control of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in such a way as not to damage its security. An agreement was reached with the servicemen of the Ukrainian separate battalion of the station’s security to jointly ensure the safety of its power units and the sarcophagus. The radiation background at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant is normal, which is confirmed, including by the IAEA.

Nevertheless, formations controlled by the Kiev regime regularly carry out provocations aimed at creating an emergency situation at the Chernobyl NPP. In particular, on March 9, the APU purposefully carried out sabotage and damaged the power line feeding the cooling system of the spent nuclear fuel storage located on the territory of the Chernobyl Nuclear power plant, while creating obstacles for its restoration by repairmen.

Such provocations are used by Western countries to whip up anti-Russian hysteria at various international venues, in particular at the IAEA.

We assure you that the consequences of this sabotage were quickly overcome: backup diesel generators were connected, and subsequently power supply was resumed according to a permanent scheme from the Belarusian power system.

We intend to continue to make every effort to ensure the safety of this facility.

Western political adventurers who encourage the actions of V. Zelensky endanger the lives of not only citizens of Ukraine and Russia, but also of the whole of Europe.
