CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION OF TURKMENISTAN: THE ELECTIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF TURKMENISTAN WERE HELD AT A HIGH LEVEL OF VOTER ACTIVITY

On March 13, 2022, a briefing by Chairman of the CEC of Turkmenistan G.Muradov was held at the Garagum hotel in the capital, dedicated to the results of the early presidential elections of Turkmenistan.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Turkmenistan noted that the presidential elections of Turkmenistan were held at a high level of voter activity. The elections were held on a broad alternative basis based on the principles of democracy and transparency: nine candidates from various parties, as well as initiative groups of citizens, applied for the post of President.

The website of the CEC of Turkmenistan conducted a live online broadcast of the voting process from a number of polling stations opened in the city of Ashgabat and the velayats of the country, which ensured a high level of election transparency.

The Chairman of the Central Election Commission stressed that 2,726 national observers and 75 international and foreign observers from the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Organization of Turkic States, as well as from a number of countries observed the elections.

The election of the President of Turkmenistan was covered by representatives of foreign mass media accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as those who arrived in our country by invitation.

It was also noted that 3,362,052 people out of a total of 3,460,080 registered voters voted in the elections in Turkmenistan, which amounted to 97.17 percent.

G.Muradov stated that on March 12, at 19.00 pm, voting at polling stations ended, but information continues to come from foreign polling stations. He stressed that the final information on the results of the elections will be brought to the attention of the population within the time limits set by law.
