The flood situation in Kostanay region has stabilized

The work of the Zhelkuar checkpoint on the border with the Russian Federation has resumed, the Border Service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan reports.
The checkpoint “Zhelkuar” in Kostanay region has been operational again since 6 p.m. on April 27, 2024, the Kazakh ministry notes.
On March 29, the Border Service announced the suspension of the checkpoint. Due to the flood situation, the passage of persons, vehicles, goods and goods across the state border was suspended.

Floods in Kazakhstan

Recall that in the spring of 2024, a difficult flood situation developed in Kazakhstan.
A lot of water is now flowing along the Ural River. If the situation has stabilized in Uralsk, then the second wave of flooding is expected in Atyrau.

The situation in Kostanay region

In six districts of the Kostanay region, the declared emergency regime of a natural nature of a local scale continues to operate (on the territory of Kostanay, Arkalyk, Amangelda, Dzhankeldinsky, Karasu and Kostanay districts).
7 houses and 17 courtyards remain flooded in the region.
During the floods, more than 9.2 thousand people were rescued and evacuated, including 1.8 thousand children.
