Putin congratulated the leaders of the CIS countries on Victory Day

The President of Russia paid tribute to gratitude and respect to all those who fought at the front and worked in the rear during the war years.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulations to the leaders of the CIS countries, as well as to the peoples of Georgia and Moldova on the occasion of the 79th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, the Kremlin’s press service reports.
The President of Russia paid tribute to gratitude and respect to all those who fought at the front and worked in the rear during the war years, bringing victory closer at the cost of colossal sacrifices and hardships.

“It is important to stop any attempts to distort or oblivion our common history. And, of course, to cherish and pass on to the next generations the glorious traditions of friendship and mutual assistance that helped our fathers and grandfathers to withstand difficult military trials with honor and crush Nazism,” the congratulatory message says.

Putin expressed confidence that the bonds of friendship forged during the war years will remain a reliable basis for the development of relations between countries and peoples.
The Head of the Russian State also conveyed to the leaders and citizens of foreign countries words of sincere gratitude to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers, wished them health, well-being, cheerfulness and longevity.
