On the occasion of the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, Vladimir Putin sent congratulatory messages to the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, as well as the peoples of Georgia and Moldova.

In his congratulations, the Russian President stressed that we pay tribute to deep gratitude and respect to all those who during the harsh war years fought bravely at the front and worked selflessly on the home front, bringing the long-awaited victory closer at the cost of colossal sacrifices and deprivation.

‘It is important to suppress any attempts to distort or obliterate our common history. And of course, to cherish and pass on to the next generations the glorious traditions of friendship and mutual support, which helped our fathers and grandfathers to withstand with honour the difficult military trials and crush Nazism,’ the Russian head of state said.

Vladimir Putin expressed confidence that the bonds of fraternal friendship forged during the Great Patriotic War will remain a reliable basis for the development of relations between our countries and peoples.

Addressing the leaders and citizens of foreign countries, the President of Russia conveyed the words of sincere gratitude to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War and home front workers, wished them good health, well-being, vigour and longevity.
