Dear ladies and gentlemen,

Please accept my heartfelt congratulations on the occasion of Africa Day, a holiday that symbolizes the victory of the peoples of your continent over colonialism, their desire for freedom, peace and prosperity.

African countries have achieved recognized successes in the economic and social spheres, and are playing an increasingly important role in addressing pressing issues on the international agenda. Constructive cooperation is expanding within the framework of the African Union, as well as a number of subregional structures, mechanisms for collective response to local conflicts and crisis situations are being formed, and integration processes are consistently advancing.

Russia attaches particular importance to strengthening friendly relations with its African partners. We are united by the desire to build a just multipolar world order based on genuine equality and the rule of international law, free from all forms of discrimination, dictate and sanctions pressure.

The holding of the second Russia-Africa summit in St. Petersburg last year undoubtedly created conditions for building fruitful, mutually beneficial cooperation in a variety of areas. I am confident that the consistent implementation of the plans and agreements reached following this important multilateral meeting meets our common interests and is in line with ensuring stability and security on the African continent.

I wish you health and success, and peace and prosperity to the citizens of your countries.

Vladimir Putin
