Dear Mr Minister,

Dear Friends,

We are pleased to welcome you to Nizhny Novgorod, the capital of the Volga Federal District and the Nizhny Novgorod Region, which is actively co-operating with the People’s Republic of China, including by implementing the well-known and useful Volga-Yangtze project.

At a recent meeting in Astana, we exchanged impressions of the traditional Russian-Chinese summit that took place in May this year. Our presidents defined the main direction for moving forward towards further results of strategic co-operation and comprehensive partnership between Russia and China. We have a special responsibility to pay attention to foreign policy coordination, primarily in the UN Security Council, BRICS, SCO, G20, APEC and other multilateral formats. Our contacts with our Chinese friends are increasingly positively perceived by the countries of the World Majority. The circle of our like-minded and willing to cooperate with BRICS and SCO is steadily increasing.

Today, at the first ministerial meeting after the BRICS expansion, we will discuss these trends and outline the ways required for further development and definition, which we will present to our Heads of State at the Kazan Summit in October 2024.
