Karpenko handed Lukashenko the certificate of the chairman of the National Assembly

The Belarusian leader was elected to the corresponding post by 1,157 delegates of the congress, which took place at the end of April in Minsk.

The head of the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Igor Karpenko, presented the President of the country, Alexander Lukashenko, with the certificate of the chairman of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, the Telegram channel “Pool of the First” reports.
It is noted that today Lukashenko will hear the report of the head of the Central Election Commission.
The President of Belarus was elected chairman of the National Assembly of Belarus during the first meeting of the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, which was held in Minsk on April 24. 1,157 delegates voted for his candidacy, with one vote against.

“Basically, probably, there are “yabatki” here and you are not looking for who voted against someone here – I know who it is. It’s not me, it’s Kochanova (Chairman of the Council of the Republic Natalia Kochanova – Sputnik),” the head of state jokingly said after his election to the post.

Alexander Kosinets, Assistant to the President, was elected Deputy Chairman of the VNC.
The All-Belarusian People’s Assembly approves the main directions of the internal and foreign policy of the state, the Military Doctrine, the Concept of National security, and programs for the socio-economic development of the republic.

The National Assembly can also propose amendments and additions to the Constitution, put on the agenda the issue of holding republican referendums, has the right to discuss the legitimacy of elections, and so on.
