Shavkat Mirziyoyev called on the countries of the world to take effective measures to drastically reduce the damage caused to human rights as a result of climate change and take responsibility for the fate of future generations, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reports.
The Head of the Republic sent a message to the participants of the fourth Human Rights Forum, which started in Samarkand.
It was read out by the press secretary of the President, Sherzod Asadov.

The theme of the forum is “Environmental challenges: the future of human rights in a changing world, the search for sustainable solutions.”

High-level representatives of the UN and its specialized agencies, the OSCE, the European Union, the OIC, the SCO, the CIS, the Organization for Economic Cooperation, the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic States, as well as more than 200 international and national experts were invited to the dialogue.

The Head of the Republic stressed that holding forums in Samarkand dedicated to the most important issues in the field of human rights has become a good tradition.
In his message, Mirziyoyev noted that due to global climate change, an acute environmental situation has developed on our planet, which has become the main obstacle and threat on the way to achieving Sustainable Development Goals. He also pointed out the need for effective joint actions by countries to significantly reduce the damage to human rights caused by climate change.

“Of course, the countries of the world must take effective measures to drastically reduce the damage caused to human rights as a result of climate change. It’s time for all of us to take responsibility for the fate of future generations,” the President stressed.

He also expressed confidence that Uzbekistan’s initiative to develop and promote the UN General Assembly resolution “On the protection of human rights while combating the negative effects of climate change in Central Asia” will be supported.
