Bakhyt Sultanov, Minister of Competition and Antimonopoly Regulation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the International Forum on Fair Competition Policy in Beijing (PRC) in the video format.
The event was organized by the State Administration for Market Regulation of the People’s Republic of China and was attended by the representatives of competition authorities of the USA, Japan, Russia, South Korea, Brazil, the European Union, OECD and other international organizations, experts, representatives of multinational companies.

In his address to the forum participants, Bakhyt Sultanov noted that China managed to create a modern comprehensive antimonopoly law and its application system in a record time. This can serve as a good example for the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

“China’s competition development system is gradually becoming the most important source of best practices and expertise, which we closely monitor,” stressed the EEC Minister. – In turn, the Eurasian Economic Commission pays great attention to ensuring fair competition in the markets of our Union, ensuring freedom of movement of goods, services, capital and labor.

Bakhyt Sultanov noted the need to maintain fair competition in the field of digitalization. According to the EEC Minister, digital platforms play an indispensable role in linking producers and consumers both in the EAEU and worldwide. However, having “gatekeeper power”, they create preconditions for monopolistic abuses.

The Minister stressed the importance of creating a “pro-competitive” consciousness in business. As examples of effective interaction with entrepreneurs Bakhyt Sultanov cited meetings of public receptions that the Competition Commission has been holding for several years. The meetings have a hybrid format and are held both offline and online, allowing the involvement of a large number of participants. To become an online participant of the public reception you just need to join the broadcast on the EEC’s YouTube channel and ask questions.
Another effective tool for building a culture of fair competition, according to Bakhyt Sultanov, is a tool for testing knowledge of competition rules in cross-border markets recently posted on the EEC website.

“In the section “Competition in the EAEU – a dialogue with business” on the main page of the EEC website we placed a module – an interactive question and answer interface. With its help, employees of companies can test their knowledge of the EEU competition law and assess their business behavior for signs of anti-competitive practices,” summarized the EEC Minister.
